Lombardi tries to throw out all these “advanced” stats to clown folks who think Kyle should be fired and he calls them “casuals”

He goes on to say the 49ers are just about as good offensively numbers wise this year as they were in the last few years under Kyle, as if to justify his own supposedly objective opinion.

Yet Lombardi can’t tell you why the 49ers haven’t defeated a single team with a winning record this year.

Memo to Dave ……

EYE TEST > STATS all day long. Hasn’t Lombardi learned his lesson from the Jimmy G story?!?

Jimmy had all kinds of efficient stats and was applauded by guys like Lombardi during his tenure with the 9ers, but what did the eye test eventually tell Lombardi about Jimmy? Exactamundo.

Lombardi is a media puppet who is trained to be 100% PC so he can maintain his image.

He wouldn’t dare ask Kyle challenging questions and dare to put Shanahan on the spot like Cohn does because Dave is just like most media members - puppets.

Eddie D fired Seifert in ‘96 after a 12-4 season because Seifert couldn’t beat Holmgren in the playoffs.

Eddie hired Mariucci and Mariucci beat Holmgren in the playoffs two short years later. Mariucci just couldn’t get the 9ers to the Super Bowl which is why he eventually was let go too.

More on Lombardi’s ridiculous video:

what’s funny is he uses injuries as an excuse for the 9ers lackluster record and goes on to say that without a team’s full complement of players the 9ers aren’t able to maximize their output and look like how they looked last year.

So Dave, if that is so, then how come the Chiefs are 9-1 and they haven’t had Omenihu, Rice, and Pacheco all year? KC loses their number one WR and number one RB and they’re 9-1. Same thing happens to SF with losing Aiyuk and CMC for half the year and they’re 5-5 lol

It’s all coaching, and Lombardi is clearly riding Shanahan til the wheels fall off while some of us fans already see the writing on the wall.

How come the Lions have the best record in the NFC with their defense getting better and better each week even though their number one pass rusher has missed damn near the entire season and ain’t coming back? How much worse on defense you think SF would be if Bosa missed the entire year? lol

How come the Lions can overcome 5 Jared Goff picks in one game and still manage to win against a playoff caliber opponent?

How come the Vikings keep on winning even though S Darnold throws picks damn near every game?

Let’s see Lombardi pull some advance stats out of his xxx to address my questions cause if I was debating with him in the flesh, I’d ask exactly those questions and see what stats he can come up with to refute my argument

Lombardi is like the polar opposite of Grant Cohn lol.

That said, I’m in favor of them bringing Kyle back next season unless behind the scenes he flat out refuses to make necessary changes or if he loses the locker room.

They’ve done nothing to warrant the optimism. But I rather a team start slow and end hot as opposed to starting hot and fizzling out. With the NFC south looking weak, there’s a legit path to the 3 seed for whoever wins the NFC west.

I’ll play devil’s advocate.

Name a coach who has lost two super bowls after 8 years who wasn’t fired or mutually departed ways and then later won a Super Bowl with that same team?

It’s never happened . Ever.

So what makes us think Kyle will make the adjustments necessary and rebuild his aging team to win the Super Bowl , whether it’s this year next year or the next? Especially when it’s never been proven to happen.

The Eagles had to fire Reid to win a SB with Pederson. The 9ers may need to do the same with Kyle.

Just because something never happened doesn’t mean that’ll be a constant.

Andy Reid lost 3 straight NFC championship games with the Eagles. 2 of those at home. They imploded after their 04 Super Bowl appearance. They lost another NFC championship game after that.

Here’s the thing. When they fired Andy Reid, they proceeded to hire that Chip Kelly guy who was a disaster with both the Eagles and 49ers. They regressed under Chip Kelly. It took Andy Reid 6 seasons in KC (and conveniently landing one of the best qb’s of all time) to take the Chiefs to their first AFC title game in 25 years. He only won one playoff game in KC prior to Mahomes being the starter despite them being good every season. He didn’t win a Super Bowl until his 7th season as the Chiefs coach and 21st season as a NFL head coach.

That same Doug Peterson they ended up hiring a few years later, he was let go barely 3 years after his Super Bowl season. And is likely going to be let go again after this season in Jacksonville.

By all means he’s eventually going to be the fall guy if the regression lasts beyond this season. It’s premature to can him now unless one of the scenarios in my previous post happens. But if/when that time comes, unless you absolutely nail the replacement hire, you’re likely going to end up back at square one in a few years.

Everything you said about the Reid, Pederson history of the Eagles is all accurate including the Chip Kelly era and how long it took Reid to win a SB at KC with a stroke of luck by landing Mahomes.

But, just because something happened doesn’t mean that’ll be a constant either.

There’s just as much a chance the 49ers find a solid coach who can lead this team to Super Bowl glory sooner than later as there is a chance it takes them 7 plus years to find another coach to lead them to the Super Bowl if the 49ers fire Kyle after this season. It’s all speculations and what ifs.

But to my point, I already see signs that Kyle is slowly losing this team. When I start to see this, it’s a signal to me that it’s time for ownership to move on no matter the coach’s resume. Especially if SF fails to make the postseason this year.

On that same token, any replacement for Kyle doesn’t guarantee success and wins. But as a business owner, when things are regressing, you have to take calculated risks and be decisive when making major changes because success is never promised nor guaranteed. It’s up to the hiring excellence, savvy, and brains of an organization to right the ship even after letting good people go.

Will the 49ers be willing to take the risk of mutually parting ways with Kyle if Kyle misses the playoffs this year and if the 49ers finish the last 7 games in a funk?

That’s the million dollar question. And in my opinion, when I look at Kyle’s face, his body language, and listen to his interviews, the guy just looks tired and beat down. It’s clear he is struggling and it may be time for Shanahan to take some time off especially if he fails to turn this season around because nothing is going to get better next year when your key core players such as Trent, Kittle, Deebo, Warner, Ward, CMC, etc will be another year older and more banged up. It may be time to start fresh while your franchise QB is still young.

On another note, and perhaps a more important one at that….i don’t see any camaraderie and cohesion THIS YEAR between the Head Coach and the QB and this is HUGE if a team is to win a Super Bowl.

Ever notice that every single QB under Kyle Shanahan has regressed after time? RG3, Jimmy, Lance, and now Brock isn’t as efficient this year as he was the last year and a half. This to me speaks volumes. He doesn’t know how to coach up quarterbacks and that’s a problem

One of the reasons the Lions are thriving is because Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell are completely in sync with Jared Goff and have tailored their offense to Goff’s strengths. And it started when they drafted Penei Sewell, Gibbs, and traded for Montgomery.

Thank the lord Puni is looking like the steal of the draft for SF.
