:::OFFICIAL SNEAKER CARE/MAINTENANCE POST::: (It's back!)

I can't find a custom thread so.. Should I paint the upper black and change the red to white or just repaint the red..?

So I got done painting the raging bull 5s, left them overnight. They look a little bit dark. Almost Brown in some spots. Should I brush it down and take some paint off ?

Question for anyone who can help out. I worked on these last week. I used the angelus preparer on the midsole, then dyed it back with angelus black dye and then did 3 light coats of black angelus paint. Finally, I used the matte finish. My questions is - they came out more glossy than I would prefer. Can anyone suggest any products I can use to dull it down a bit? Thanks in advance.

did you paint with regular black or flat black paint?

And this is the part where I shed a tear. The shoes were looking amazing in extremely good condition. I thought maybe I would hit it with one last salon care session. Then this happened as I was peeling off the saran wrap:

FML.

That sort of happened to me with my Cool Greys except it sort of creased the Patent leather. The Leather went back to shape once the shoes cooled off, and I put a little Angelous finisher on the parts where the wrap left lines. It took it at as learning lesson......

DON"T PUT ANY KIND OF WRAP ON THE PATENT LEATHER OF XI's...NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU HAVE THE SHOES IN THE SUN.

Now I stated this a while back and somebody was like "Man you left them outside to long". Forget that!  Just put the wrap on the edges of the sole and let it be. My technique is that I then place the shoes in the lid of of a shoebox to hold them tightly together and keep them sitting upright. I'll post of a pic of this setup this afternoon since I'm restoring the soles of my CDP XVI.

I'll throw yall another alley...DON"T MIX SALON CARE 40 WITH SEA GLOW OR ANY OTHER SUBSTANCE!  Alot of people insist on mixing the Salon Care with Sea Glow or Oxy Clean. Sea Glow leaves a greenish tint on soles. I kept wondering why my Space Jams were turning a extremely light shade of green, which is Sea Glow's actual color, rather than clear!  Welp, I tried it without Sea Glow and that session was twice as successful than others. And there's no reason for Oxy or any other washing powder. That chemical in Salon Care 40 is strong enough to discolor hair and skin...it doesn't need anything else. Other additives are a waste of money. Good luck to yall. Every single one of my clear soles in my collection look sooo damn good. Shout out to everyone who suggested Salon Care 40 of over any other high priced mix that these other folks sell.

Angelous paint the entire toe. You can't just touch up paint that area. Then you will have to somehow and smooth out the lumps. There's not much you can do for missing material. You are asking for a miracle. Just toss those in the trash. They honestly arent worth restoring IMO.

So you think i should just throw em in the trash? Even tho the rest of the shoe is gorgeous. Because just the little top piece if plastic or watever the hell is it got ripped off on one shoe. Good advice man.

Yeah I was being a butthole with the trash comment...but it seem that's all you comprehended. You can't replace missing material. There's pieces of pure leather missing off that toe. The best you can do is put a glob of paint on there to fill the wholes and then sand it or something. It's similiar to what people do with resin when they are fixing holds or dents with car parts.

Its nothing like that tho. Literally all that came off was the very thin layer of white. Like as thin as paper. But its grey under that. Its not leather. Thats for sure.

I know exactly why that peeled, and it is because it got too hot. I could see and feel that the PL around it was starting to minorly peel because of the heat. Would not putting any saran wrap on the PL avoid the issue, definitely, but of over hundreds of sessions this was the first time it happened to me. Definitely goona be more cautious though because I did rip the saron wrap off with no care/hard and I'm sure that had something to do with it too. I hit my 2011 concords once a week every week along with countless of other shoes and never had a problem, maybe it was the old PL on the OG's? Either way, definitely being more conscious of the PL.

I remember the post on ISS/SC showing the difference between salon care + oxy and no oxy and I would also assume there's a reason literally almost everyone says adding oxy, etc. does work for enhancing the process(possibly because it does?), but maybe you're right. Again you can do what you want to do, and claim what you want to claim, but salon care + oxy has been good to me:

Do what you think is best for you, but to all the others, don't think one person's experience is always the same for everyone.

Quick stupid question. I don't drag my heels when I walk, but I manage to get heel drag on my shoes I wear alot. Is it unavoidable when you wear your shoes often or?

Pair on the back right side has been 're dyed and the other pair has not been touched for comparison.

My first job. I honestly don't recommend anybody doing this without experience. I had to call up some experts to give me tips

What's good nt. I'm currently working on a pair of college blue xviis and I found a pair of lace covers that are for a sz 12. I am a sz 10 would that lace cover work for my pair or will it not got because it is bigger
