Haha, I traded Pietrus straight up for Bargnani...I think it's a steal...Until I learn how to freaking shoot with this guy.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tayshaun in a W's uniform. I wouldn't mind Barbosa but I know he could allow Baron to only play around 32-35 minutes agame. With that range of PT, maybe Baron would be just a good on defense as he was on offense.

i failed as a GM with the warriors in 2k8. After making all these trades and stuff, the team's chemistry dipped to 0% and i got the boot
frown.gif
How dare theydo that to me when i got the chip to the bay numerous times

I wouldn't mind getting Tayshaun but where would we place him? At the 4? I know it doesn't sound as bad compared to Barnes at 4 or 5 but we'd stillget killed on the boards.

As far as Barbosa, he'd be a great addition but he's a liability on defense and he's really not a true PG.

And LMAO at 0% chemistry on 2k8. I just added GP and traded POB + someone else for Haslem. I still can't go thru a season since I keep playing online

Why the laughter? I'm 25 btw.

Public service announcement - can we start to move this thread into a functional one? I know not much has developed from the end of the season till now;however we're now near the draft and free agency period and there's nothing like going through 10 pages of banter.

I wouldn't care if I/anyone could delete some posts...

TJ Ford is getting around $9 Million a season, he's not worth it.
My 2K8 roster (all through legit trades):
Davis, Hudson
Ellis, Belinelli
Jackson, M. Miller, Dupree
R. Wallace, Wright, J. Smith
T. Chandler, Marks

Tayshaun would provide some of the much needed D, but what position would he play? SJack plays the 3, would he play the 4 in place or Al? Seems too small andtoo skinny imo....but yeah I could envision him in a W's uniform

I am not as well connected as some of you (realgm...etc) but I dont know where you all are hearing that Tayshaun is available. The Pistons just fired Flip, soIMO that means their organization believes the team is good enough (or close) to compete for a championship. In the east, the Pistons are a top 2 team. I thinkminor additions would make their team better, not major subtractions.

i believe it was dumars that said no one is untouchable besides their young guns stuckey, afflalo, maxiell, etc.

Chad Ford angers me almost as much as TK -

Umm, no thanks to this pick. Seriously. I'd rather take a hurt Bill Walker.
Pick No. 14: Golden State Warriors

Chad Ford selects: DeAndre Jordan, Texas A&M
Golden State has hit a few home runs in the second round. Gilbert Arenas was a steal. So was Monta Ellis.

But the Warriors' first-round picks? Ugh! Remember Patrick O'Bryant in the lottery ahead of Rajon Rondo? Ike Diogu ahead of Andrew Bynum and Danny Granger? Mickael Pietrus ahead of David West? Mike Dunleavy with the No. 3 pick ahead of Amare Stoudemire?

Not good. So I have to say that the only way I'll have faith in this pick is for the Warriors to go ahead and draft a second rounder at No. 14. With talk that they're looking at Rider's Jason Thompson, they may have figured this out as well.

Since I think Thompson has no upside, what about Jordan? Chances are he's a bust, but is there anyone left in this draft who would convince you not to take this gamble? He's huge, he has great athleticism and he has about a five percent chance of becoming good. Can you say that about anyone else left in the draft?

Simmons: I think you just used the exact same logic that Utah used when they rolled the dice with Luther Wright in 1993. If they're taking a big guy, I'd rather see them go with Robin Lopez here -- maybe he's a career backup, but he'd give them an energy guy off the bench and you know he'll be in the league for 10 years. I don't even trust Jordan being in the league for 10 minutes. Plus, wouldn't it be fun to watch Nellie yell at Lopez for the next year or so? Come on, you're talking yourself into this. The other guy I like for them is Chris Douglas-Roberts, a really quirky offensive player who will succeed only with a specific kind of coach: Someone who loves isolation matchups and pitting good one-on-one players against guys who have no chance of guarding them. You know, someone exactly like Don Nelson.

Ford: You're right, I am talking myself into it. But Robin Lopez is too goofy. He's creating his own superhero from what I hear. Who's the last comic book geek to dominate in the NBA? And isn't Biedrins the guy that gives them energy? And isn't Nellie reluctant to play him?

Looking back over the mock draft, this isn't half bad. And I've got feel like the basketball gods have smiled on us this year, Bill. You beloved Celtics are the NBA champs. My beloved Jayhawks are the NCAA champs. We've got to know what we're doing, right?

Simmons: I agree that we've both been blessed by the basketball gods. I agree that our mock draft churned out a strangely compelling order. And I agree that I can't feel the tips of my fingers anymore. What's funny about the past five hours is that there will be at least two trades that screw up the entire dynamic of our carefully thought-out mock draft, rendering something like 6,000 words of text completely meaningless within the span of seconds. I hate when that happens! Until next year.

Yours in cognitive dissonance,

Simmons

. maybenellie/mullin are going to do something real unexpected on thursday. i'm really pumped to find out what happens.

and edit-yeah i'm not so sold on Jordan either. i don't know though...we sort of have the luxury of maybe going BPA a bit...he's definitely a realrisky pick and another "project"-type. i kinda would rather go for someone that can produce right away, but overall as long as he can help the team alot i don't care.

God, Mullin has to be one of the worst people to ever give out contracts. Is it a rule that this idiot has to overpay for crappy players? I seen this before, but how can you pay a second round pick this much?

38th Pick: Kosta Perovic $1,800,000 $1,944,000 $2,088,000 $0 $0 $5,832,000

14th Pick: Al Thornton $1,652,280 $1,776,240 $1,900,200 $2,814,196 $3,914,547 $0 $3,428,520

12th Pick: Thaddeus Young$1,830,720$1,968,120$2,105,400$2,901,940$3,992,108$3,798,840

Chris Mullin's a %+*$$!+ joke :{.

^ Are those numbers legit? I mean, it doesn't make sense that Kosta would be getting paid that much if he's doing liners from the D-Leage to the NBA.

Kosta is on a two year deal worth $3.5m. With a Team Option for the third....
That averages to $1.75M for a backup center.

Like are you even for real?

Thornton is making 1.8m, 1.9m, 2.8m and then 3.9m.....give or take.

How are you going to compare a 2006 draftee to Thornton, let alone first round versus second?

Basically, Kosta is making a bit less than a first rounder in his first two years.

and with the 14th overall pick the golden state warriors take.... Chris Douglas-Roberts.

just sayin imo.

Warriors' Davis unlikely to opt out
By Geoff Lepper
Contra Costa Times
Article Launched: 06/24/2008 07:16:21 PM PDT

OAKLAND " As the hours tick down to a draft that will start the ball rolling on the Warriors' potentially franchise-changing offseason, they can besure of one thing: Star point guard Baron Davis will remain under contract for 2008-09.

But that doesn't guarantee he'll be wearing a Golden State uniform when the season begins.

A team source said that Davis has told teammates he will not exercise the opt-out provision in his contract before its June 30 expiration date, meaning that hewill play out the final year of the deal at a salary of $17.8 million.

Todd Ramasar, Davis' agent, would only say Tuesday that "it's not likely" his client will opt out, but the source said Davis was"realistic" about the difficulty in recouping that guaranteed money in a free-agent market that is not especially flush with cash.

The threat of an opt out was one of the few pieces of leverage Davis had in talks with the Warriors regarding a contract extension, but it did not spur theteam into action. The sides were far apart in terms of numbers when they sat down last month, and although the dialogue has continued, it appears the two sidesremain similarly disconnected at this point.

Given that stalemate, it's possible that Davis, who wants to stay in the Bay Area but was disappointed with the lowball offers from the Warriors, will askto be dealt. And the team source said that the Detroit Pistons, rebuffed initially in their attempts to pry forward Carmelo Anthony fromthe Denver Nuggets, are now looking at Davis as a potential target.

Joe Dumars, the Pistons' president of basketball operations, gave notice after losing the Eastern Conference finals that no one on his veteran-laden teamwould be safe, and the source said Detroit is willing to divest itself of longtime stars Rasheed Wallace and Chauncey Billup
s.

Wallace, like Davis an unrestricted free agent after '08-09, would give the Warriors their best true power forward since Chris Webber's first stint in1993-94 and has 3-point range that coach Don Nelson would love.

And the inclusion of Billups, who has been made more expendable by the emergence of rookie Rodney Stuckey last season, would ease any concerns from Nelsonabout the point guard position. Although Nelson thinks Monta Ellis eventually needs to move to point guard, he played him primarily at shooting guard onoffense last season, allowing Davis to quarterback the team.

Since Wallace and Billups will combine to take home nearly $25 million in 2008-09, the Warriors would need to add more salary ballast to Davis in order to makethe salary-cap numbers work.

One possibility in that role would be forward Al Harrington. A source close to the 10th-year forward said he is currently leaning toward requesting a tradefrom the Warriors this summer, although he will not make a final decision until after the draft.

Harrington clearly was frustrated at being bounced in and out of the lineup by Nelson last season and at being asked to become a 3-point specialist on offense. His role could become even more diminished if Nelson follows through with his current plan of bringing second-year forward Brandan Wright into the rotation.

Notes: A Warriors representative said the team has heard nothing from Kosta Perovic or his agent to back up overseas media reports that the second-year centerwas looking to jump from the NBA back to the Euroleagues with Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv. ... Signups for the Warriors summer camps and Davis' ownprogram are now open. The team camp still has eight sessions spread over July and August. Check warriors.com or call (510) 986-5310 for more information.Davis' camp will run from July 21-25. Sign up at rsoa.net. ... KNBR will broadcast an hour-long Warriors Roundtable from team headquarters on Thursday, beginning at 9 p.m.

I don't think there is any need to bash Mullin too harsh. You should be thankful he isn't Gary St. Jeann. He got Baron Davis to Oakland for SpeedyClaxton and Dale Davis. I am happy with that.
