I think only half the German team is actually German.

Wow, what a slaughterhouse. Germany's consistency, discipline and organizational skills never cease to amaze me. The #1 team in history when it comes to consistency, and #2 overall after Brazil, even though Italy have one World Cup more than the Germans do. But they are still the second best because of their consistency. Other than the two mediocre World Cup in the 90s, they have always been contenders and this time doesn't look like it will be an exception. AND on top of that they are the winning-est team in European Cups. Other wannabe contenders could learn from them. England, I'm looking in your direction.

This is a damn great performance by the Germans. I'm not sure Brazil will be able to put on a show like this against North Korea (the most lopsided fixture of the first round).
Group D is looking now like it did before all the injuries that were supposed to change everything. Germany is clearly the best and Ghana is energized by playing in Africa. Very unlikely that Serbia or Australia recover given Germany's form and Cahill's suspension.

I really thought this would be a closer game, Australia got lucky Germany didn't have Michael Ballack

The "non-German half" of the team you're thinking of is in fact just as German as the American players on the team are American. They were all born in Germany or emigrated there as babies or children. I think the only one who can be classified as non-German in that sense is Cacau.

The same can be said about France, Italy, Algeria, Netherlands, etc etc.

This is not your 'typical' 'efficient' 'robotic' Germany. They are just as skilled as almost any other team in the world. They should easily make the QFs, it'll be fun seeing them go up against another contender in 3-weeks time.

It probably helped. Made them faster and more cohesive. They were passing with patience and ease, which probably wouldn't happen with Ballack around since he has such a dominant personality.

Germany always has a really good team. Their players are always so tall.

Germany didn't really have problems with making goals. Something other teams haven't really shown so far. Australia ain't even that bad really.
