Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Jennifer Lawrence, was forgettable, in American Hustle?

Jennifer Lawrence?

In American Hustle?

You sure you saw the right movie? You sure you didn't watch America Hustle or something?

:lol

Jennifer was FAR from unforgettable in that movie. She was superior to Cooper and it wasn't even close. Bale and Amy outshined her, but forgettable?

You caught the wrong movie I think. :lol

Her character was just the annoying New Jersey housewife to me. She was good for a laugh but it got old pretty quick. I was way more in to Irving's story line and what was going down with Edith and Richie.

I mean she did the role well but her character was forgettable for me. Like I wouldn't recommend this movie and one of the first things I'd say is Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in it.

I mean......that was her role, no? She didn't sign up to play a mob boss, she was hired to be a New Jersey housewife. Guess what, she's not a real New Jersey housewife, yet she did a pretty damn good convincing portrayal of one. :lol

You see her as Katniss, and then this role, and tell me she didn't nail the **** out of that? Really? She knocked that thing outta the park man.

I get this is all opinion for you and I, and I hear ya, but I was amazed by her. Granted, Bale and Adams captured me more than she did, but they also had much more screen time and juicy plot points to play with. For her role, her job, her scenes, she was perfect. Even better than Cooper and damn sure better than Renner or the actual Mob Boss. (not sure how many know he's in this film, haven't seen anyone mention his name yet even :lol )
I'll say it a different way the character was forgetful and because of that I really didn't care for what she did with the part AT ALL. Was she believable? For the most part but it wasn't of note to me.

Yall dudes overreacting imo. She did not come out of this with some amazing memorable performance.
Her character was just the annoying New Jersey housewife to me.

and that was the exact point of her role...
I'm not saying it wasn't. I'm saying the character was annoying and other than that was forgettable.

Just got back from Her and wow....I caught too many feels. It's between this and Gravity for my favorite movie of 2013

Anyone on here still watch Glee? I watched the first 2 seasons, but completely lost interest a few episodes in the 3rd. Seems like I hardly hear anything about it anymore, so I'm just curious if anyone is still checking it out.

Her looks dope. Gonna try and check that one out in theaters.

Yeah, definitely check it out. Just don't blame me if you end up not liking it :lol

I think its definitely a movie where people can feel differently depending on their experiences or their views of relationships

I'm pretty sure 90% of my friends would be too immature to appreciate Her.

Watched Lone Survivor last night.

Good movie, but felt like it was exaggerated a bit (to be expected with these kind of movies).

Anytime a guy gets shot 9 different times including the back of the head and falls off 2 different cliffs but is still alive, it's 100% authentic, every time.

:lol

That said, still, great portrayal by all 4 of the actors as well as Peter Berg's directing.

While I didn't like American Hustle, I thought Cooper and Adams were solid in their roles. Cooper though? Easily the weak link.

I stopped watching at the start of this season. I missed a few episodes last year too and didn't care. My brother and his wife just fast forward and only watch the songs now.

I used to enjoy hate watching it, but I couldn't anymore. :lol

Same with me I think.. Started losing interest when the main kids were going to graduate, whatever season that was

Just looked it up, stopped really watching after the 3rd season

I never really cared for him at all, not that he isn't good I just don't like to watch his movies, I don't know what it is about him

I liked AH, the story wasn't that interesting to me but the actors made it worthwhile

I watched the show and stopped up until around the same time as you did lawdog1. I liked it as well just I knew when a show like this would get real popular we'll fall in love with the characters but the setting of High School glee club you have to let them go, which by the third season they did graduate. I figured they'd do 1 of 2 things. carry on with the first group and forget high school completely now OR stay in high school and bring in a new crew like Degrassi's system. Degrassi is Degrassi and that system worked, other than that I figured it wouldn't work so I predicted that the show would diminish so I didn't bother with the show. Glee has done a mixture of both.

are ratings well still? can't imagine them being as good as the hayday of season 2 and such

EDIT: just saw that I was typing this as itsabouthattime's post was posted

His acting in SLP sold me (well, Pines and Limitless before that), but I just wasn't feeling his performance in AH.

Also, Serena that is due out this year featuring, you guessed, him paired with JLaw... I'm already sick of that duo.

Cooper wasn't the issue at all his character wasn't well developed.

Watched hellboy for the first time. I was significantly impressed

Can anyone recommend some good films that aren't particularly well known? I feel like I've seen every movie in the world and have nothing left to watch.

Yeah I was still wondering what made him tick or if the writers simply didn't just put much depth in to him other than 70s FBI agent antagonist with possible drug problem. Like why he was so desperate to take down the big fish, why he was taking all those risks, etc. I don't think it was just a coke problem or was it he felt like a failure in life and just wanted to accomplish something to put his name to? Plus his L didn't hit him hard enough imo. The way he was acting he should've put a bullet in somebody.

But overall I enjoyed every scene he was in. He wasn't as compelling as Bale but he entertained throughout.

I'm still wondering what was the point of that ice fishing story :lol

I loved 21 Jump Street.

They were able to satirize/poke fun at high school movies and cop/buddy movies at the same time. Hill and Tatum were awesome together along with the rest of the cast and I'm really looking forward to the sequel.. even if it's just more of the same.
