Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Am I the only one who thinks Renner has such a weak presence in films outside of the Hurt Locker?

To me if anyone's "forgettable" it'd be him.

Did he do a nice job with his role in American Hustle? Sure. But did he ever stand out as a star among Bale, Lawrence, Cooper, or Adams? Not in the least bit imo.

I feel like he's very fortunate to be getting the roles he's being offered compared to the other stars in AH. His on screen presence is not nearly the same as the others.

He just comes off so boring to me, but I don't hate the guy. His role in the Bourne franchise was SO BORING after seeing Damon absolutely kill his role... I cannot believe he's getting a sequel. I guess box office numbers are all that matters. I don't hate the guy, Just being honest. Dude should not be getting super star roles like he's getting IMO. He's a good actor, but he doesn't have the charisma to carry films to me.

I thought he was good in The Town and decent in American Hustle, and good in The Hurt Locker but other then that he does nothing for me. He has no star power and I won't go see a film because Renner is in it.

You think Seth Rogan looks at Jonah Hill & says to himself Jonah is having the career he was supposed to have... :roll eyes

MBJ needs to resist doing big budget movies for the sake of a dollar. He needs to take meaty roles & continue to develop his craft. I think if he does that, the cash will be there anyway. I would like him to mold his career like Leo's. I honestly think the potential is there. I've been a fan of his since The Wire. He did a superb job playing Wallace.

Surprised no talk of Top 10 of 2013, now that it's over. 8o

My watch-list: Gangster Squad, Bullet to the Head, Warm Bodies, Side Effects, Oz the Great and Powerful, Spring Breakers, The Croods, Evil Dead, Oblivion, Iron Man 3, Star Trek: Into Darkness, The East, The Purge, This is the End, Man of Steel, World War Z, Pacific Rim, The Conjuring, The World’s End, The Wolverine, We’re the Millers, Elysium, Kick-*** 2, Lee Daniels’ The Butler, You’re Next, Insidious: Chapter 2, Prisoners, Don Jon, Gravity, Machete Kills, 12 Years a Slave, Carrie, Escape Plan, Ender’s Game, Thor: The Dark World, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Out of the Furnace, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, The Wolf of Wall Street.

Probably the most I've been to the movies in a given year. Only four of those I saw outside of theaters.

Here’s my Top 10, and by Top 10, I mean my favorite, not the best. :lol

10: Escape Plan
9: This is the End
8: The World’s End
7: You’re Next
6: Out of the Furnace
5: The Conjuring
4: Lee Daniels’ The Butler
3: Prisoners
2: The Wolf of Wall Street
1: 12 Years a Slave

I've been keeping track, JA. I've seen at least parts of 34 movies from 2013. A lot of docs. A lot of garbage, regretfully.

Llewyn Davis and Fruitvale are, far and away, the best and my favorite.

Beyond that, I haven't seen anything great yet.

Other favorites, though: About Time, Another Day/Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis, Blackfish, The Conjuring, The Great Gatsby and This is the End

Still want to see: 12 Years a Slave, August: Osage County, The Bling Ring, Catching Fire, Drinking Buddies, Mud, Nebraska, Oldboy, Spring Breakers, The Wolf of Wall Street and The World's End

I particularly expect to enjoy 12 Years, August, Mud and Nebraska.

Can I get a list of the screeners that are already out?

Every now and then some of yall post about them but I don't remember every one. I know AH, Blue Jasmine, and 12 Years A Slave is out there. What else

You think Seth Rogan looks at Jonah Hill & says to himself Jonah is having the career he was supposed to have... :roll eyes
Nah, when I look at Seth Rogen and I look at Jonah Hill I think Jonah cares and Seth doesn't. Jonah didn't just stumble in to all those good movies and roles. He auditioned and tried his best and he was liked enough to be chosen, word to his story about how he got picked for TWoWS.

Seth, when he isn't doing really funny movies does a comedic version of the Green Hornet and a road trip movie with Barbara Streisand. The last really good movie I saw him in that wasn't a comedy, which he just happened to be in was Take This Waltz. I think he's fine with taking that kind of Steve Carrell path where he's mostly doing comedy movies some good, some bad and every now and then shows up in a drama piece.

I highly suggest both 12 Years a Slave and Prisoners if you haven’t seen that one either.

I really want to catch Mandela and American Hustle before they leave theaters.

And lightweight want to see 47 Ronin (to see how horrible it is :lol ), Grudge Match (to see how AWESOME it is), Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and maybe Saving Mr. Banks.

The World's End doesn't disappoint either. I thought it was somewhere between Hot Fuzz and Shaun. It was a fitting end.

Spring Breakers I hated probably more than any movie I've ever watched. :lol

I'm thinking about watching that lone survivor film.. I don't know if it will be worth the price of admission..

I'm hearing really good things about Dallas Buyers Club!

I might have to watch that and Mud back to back and have a McConaughey fest

I liked Dallas Buyers Club a lot. Glad I watched it but I wouldn't watch it again... Matthew McConaughey should get an Oscar nominee. Jared Leto is a douchey kind of guy IMO but he should get an Oscar nod too...

Damn Lucy Liu is beautiful....

I don't know how anyone could ever again, in good conscious, support Sea World or any kind of zoo after watching Blackfish. It's an issue that isn't nearly prevalent enough.

But then again, what would Sea World do with the animals if it just wasn't profitable to have Sea Worlds anymore? There is a clear answer here, but...

Been meat-free for 14+ months now (still need to work on eliminating my minimal dairy consumption completely). I can feel myself starting to lean towards preachy when it comes to animal rights. :lol

It really is an excellent doc, though. And even more than that, an important one. But never boring.

I just don't give a **** about those fish one way or the other.

I think there are more pressing issues out there that aren't prevalent enough.

Cate Blanchett was so good in Blue Jasmine :lol

sort of felt bad for her at the end, but she was such a entitled bish. good flick.

Sure there are, but it doesn't have to be a linear thing.

I would probably choose to save an animal over a human, though, so I have to respect the reverse extreme.

"Producers and execs behind Fast and the Furious 7, along with director James Wan and screenwriter Chris Morgan, had an awful task at the end of last year: figure out how to move forward with the film in the wake of Paul Walker’s death. Much of the film had been shot when Walker’s life was claimed by an auto accident at the end of November, but the actor still had to shoot some of his most significant scenes.

Now there’s word that all involved have settled on a plan: as much of Walker’s footage will be used as possible, but his character will effectively be written out of the series, or “retired,” in a respectful manner.

THR reports that Universal, Morgan, and Wan “will tweak the script and add scenes so footage of the late actor’s Brian O’Conner character can still be used” and that the script will not kill the character, but retire him.

Additional scenes will be written and shot to facilitate the new direction for the film; there’s no information about whether or not any of the new material will feature a double for Walker.

Fast and the Furious 7 has been delayed to a release date of April 10, 2015, in order to make time for changes to be made."

keep an eye out...Clint Eastwood is starting production in April for a film called American Sniper with Bradley Cooper.

It's a true story of the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle, known as the most lethal sniper in American history.

Copper begins heavy training now and warns people if you see him gain weight and hair turn red it's for the role. Steven Spielberg was initially attached to the project being produced by Cooper’s company, but the actor says for whatever reason his deal did not go through, so he’s thrilled Eastwood came on board.

When the hell is my world going to be filled with Star Wars info.

Seriously. I've avoided it as much as possible, I've not thought about it, haven't peeked all over the Internet, but it's time.

It's time for me to spend countless weekends watching 1-6 and just loving every second of it. My absolute favorite film series ever. My absolute favorite thing as a kid.

I need Episode VII trailers, casting, marketing, toys, etc. I want the collectible cups from whoever the hell they go with :lol

Crazy EBW, you gonna go crazy if you think a lot of info is going to be out now. We're 2 years away from the release date (12/18/15). As of December 13th, the official script hasn't even been turned in.

Slashfilm is a good resource for any Star Wars news/updates as well as being a good resource for movie/TV news overall. Star Wars also has an official website (both links below).

Also one of the guys on Latino Review seems to be getting a lot of Star Wars news first hand before everyone else. This site is a good overall resource too.

& like Marsalis Wallace said, you need to chill out... :lol
