Good movie.
Awful ending.
But, I understand it was based on a true story so the ending couldn't have been different. I guess that's one case where I wish it would of just been "inspired" by a true story instead of "based", because a different ending would of made it a better "film." Probably great.
But outside of that, understanding they had to stay true to the story, it was a good film.

ahhhh, the good ol days. A friend of mine and I were talking one day, and came up with an idea about doing a fantasy movie draft, much like a fantasy sports team. So, we pitched the idea in here, and several of the guys were into it.
So we started with the 1990's, only movies that could be picked would be from that decade. Then we came up with the particulars. As an example, I will show you my "team"
CP1708
Sports---Rounders
Drama---Shawshank Redemption
Comedy---American Pie
Horror/Thriller---From Dusk Til Dawn
Crime---The Usual Suspects
Sci-Fi---Independence Day
Action---The Rock
Western---Legends of the Fall
Utility---Good Will Hunting
Utility---A Time to Kill
Basically, every one had to fill the same slots, a Sports movie, Drama, COMEDY (I know you love those) and so on. Then we did a draft order, and went to work.
Much like baseball/football, it's up to you what is more important. Do you take the QB, or the RB? (Drama or Crime) Do you take 3 Comedies early,and use 2 of them as your untility movies?
Anyway, we all enjoyed it, and afterwards, we decided to do more, a 2000's draft, a 1980's, and a 70's. The last one we did was a character draft, and included all sorts of character types. Here's my team from that one.

Villian Role --- Alonzo Harris, Training Day - Denzel Washington
Utility Role --- Samuel Gerard, The Fugitive - Tommy Lee Jones
Well, it was sort of a hybrid, Horror/Thriller, so we had range from Silence of the Lambs, to Seven, to Scream, so it's not "that" bad of a category.
If I remember right, I made my Horror pick late in the draft. I still think I won that damn one, but I think I got 3rd or something like that.

So I've been watching The Wonder Years lately and it's definitely not how I remembered.
It's been dope though seeing some plots/elements Boy Meets World borrowed and reused. As leads, Fred is definitely way more charismatic and a better actor than his little brother Ben.
But Kevin Arnold is an absolute douchebag. There's nothing redeeming about him at all. Even when there's a dope lesson to be learned, his obnoxious attitude and outbursts drown the message out. This guy doesn't deserve a Winnie Cooper.
The Winnie character was just a prop only around to soften Kevin and make him look less like a douchebag.. She was real loose too

They talk with Kevin Smith about his brushes with the movie, specifically, where the idea of that dumb ******* mechanical spider came from
Edit:Kevin Smith wrote a treatment for that Nic Cage Superman movie that was being developed. John Peters, the producer of WWW, was involved. One of his notes was he wanted the climax to include something terrifying, amazing, memorable: a giant spider
That movie never got made, so he threw his spider idea into WWW

So how do you win? whats the points system? tournament style play? Interesting idea though. You really gotta know your movies.
Eh, there was no real clear cut winners. What we did was just have everyone give their opinions/votes, and then a few that weren’t a part of the actual draft gave theirs, and I totaled up the most points and named a top 3. We didn’t like have trophies or anything.
After the draft, nothing else was “played” per se, we just had a roster, viewed them, and went on to the next one. It was a lot of fun, and I think everyone enjoyed it. If we’re all still here at the end of 2019, we can certainly do another one, for the 2010-2019 decade.

Saw it last night. I'm actually thinking about seeing it again.
Forget any commercial or trailer you saw for it and just see the damn movie. You won't be disappointed.

I watched All Is Lost
And all I can say is WOW.
For the most part, its a dialogue-free film. And Robert Redford ******* killed it.
Admittedly, I know next to nothing about him other than he is old as dirt and was close friends with the salad dressing guy. And was the baddie in CA:TWS.
But hot damn, its like Redford was chillin out in Palm Desert (or wherever old people usually live), got bored of playing bocce, received a call by some random newcomer director, and was like "**** it, I'll do it" and does this one-man show just to remind everyone who he is and what he is/was capable of as an actor.
To the film, being the only character in this film, Redford absolutely grabbed the film by its balls and breathed life to it. The material itself is very limited and to the point. But what Redford was able to do was bring every wave, every rain drop, toppling wind, to the hopelessness and loneliness and anguish and misery his character experiences; he portrays it all at such a visceral level that you feel that you are there with him, if not a hapless bystanding ghost watching him falter and suffer.
Having basically no lines of dialogue, the film is pretty much a vague symbol up for different interpretation. It relies much on the moods and emotions of Redford's character, as well as the relatively simple score that went with the film. It made it such a neat, well bound film that accomplished and presented so much with so little (if that makes sense).
All in all, I give it a fantastic 8/8.

Lot less successful. We made it about 4-5 weeks, and everyone fell off.
The idea was to go week to week, in order, a person would recommend 3-4 films, everyone votes, pick 1, watch, review, then repeat the next week with the next person recommending 3-4 films.
Good theory, harder to pull off for guys all over the world, online at different times, hard to nail down the one film to review, etc. So it folded pretty quick.

I don't even think it's the voting and suggesting the movie that'd be a problem (I'm not sure wasn't there for it) watching that one specific one before the week is done, then review and then be there for the next vote.
On a slightly related note, this dude Tome Cruise said he loves movies so much he tries to watch at least one everyday.

I'd maintain it in the OP or somewhere to keep everything clean (tho, I'd probably use the second/repeated post since it's cleaner than editing the first which is a nightmare nowadays
