i loved both parts. perhaps part 2 slightly above part 1 and i know i'm in the minority there. i can't help but wonder if it would have been even better with a different lead. maybe? maybe not? nothing really against uma thurman but maybe tarentino's obsession with her may have blinded him from finding someone even better? (i have no one particular in mind though) on most days kill bill ranks #2 just below pulp fiction for me.
the climax to 1 is just pure greatness but I actually liked 2 better

She was probably the perfect actress to him for the wiggle your toes scene. He probably saw her feet and animated hearts appeared in his eyes. Wonder if she was his first choice? I need to read about it.

SMH at the way david carradine died. Such a weird way to go. Getting your weird on then rveryone finding out.

dude.... :lol

he probably wrote the whole story with her in mind though. i don't think he even considered anyone else.

Dude definitely has interesting casting choices. I like when he picks people we haven't seen in a while. I was reading an article about Jennifer Jason Leigh and was surprised he was considering jennifer lawrence for the hateful eight role. A big age gap betwern those two actresses.

No new Kill Bill movie is still one of the things that saddens me the most.

I could see JLaw in some of the Leigh scenes in TH8 :lol

I can definitely hear her yelling and cursing like Jennifer did as Daisy.

Daisy seemed like a good time to me. Not so much after her teeth got knocked out. I heard some of the cast members said the most difficult part of filming was eating all that damn stew. Said they probably ate a gallon or two of it.

I consider that thing with the casting one of the trademarks of QT's films now, ever since it worked so well in PF with Travolta. Then he brought Pam Grier back for Jackie Brown, David Carradine and Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill, Kurt Russell in Death Proof, etc.

I guess there really wasn't a character like that in IB though, unless you count Mike Myers.

In the article I was reading they said he sort of revived Christoph Waltz's career. I have no idea how accurate it is and if his work in German / Austrian stuff slowed down. He has 2 Oscars now though. Maybe he'll have another role for dicaprio and help him finally get that gold statue.

its really close for me because QT's batting average is insane at this point.

Inglorious Basterds
Reservoir Dogs
Kill Bill
Pulp Fiction
Django Unchained
Hateful Eight
Jackie Brown
Death Proof

this is my exact list, in order of best to worst, if you switch IG and Pulp Fiction

edit NVM, I have Django below jackie brown as second "worst"

everyone rates jackie brown so low but the scene where deniro finally shoots fonda made me feel like jumping up to celebrate.

waltz was phenomenal in basterds. that opening scene was filled with tension. ranks up there with the gas station quarter toss in no country.

yeah, his batting average is insane.

Not one miss. :hat

He's been talkin about maybe doing a scary movie, and KB 3. I hope so. I don't want him to retire.

My American chauvinism coming through. I just assumed QT "discovered" Waltz since I never heard of him before. :lol Knowing Tarantino, he probably saw every German/Austrian film he was every in before he casted him in IB.

That OJ miniseries sounds really interesting.

i think im going to check it out. wonder if ross and cuba will kill it.

I tried giving that Ridiculous 6 **** on Netflix a chance and turned it off after 15 minutes

Sandler has become such a joke.

I laughed at both Grown Ups movies - mainly on the strength of the other people in the movies, but that's about the only Sandler films that I've thought were ok since roughly the turn of the century.

I also liked Hotel Transylvania, but I don't count it as a "Sandler film."

wedding singer was his best movie.

Jackie Brown's not credited for being one of Tarantino's better movies, and I'd say it is (Pulp > R.Dogs > Jackie Brown > Inglorious > Hateful Eight > Django Unchained .... > Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2.).

But the movie needed SLJ more than SLJ needed Quentin in this particular case. Movie's terrible without him, mostly because I think it would be hard to execute that part.

jackie brown was just ok for me. i was expecting a big in your face ending but it was just ok. kill bill last though?

Wedding Singer is NOT his best movie :lol It's between Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore and Madison is winning 9/10 times. I love Wedding Singer but it's tied with Water Boy for me. Everything else I care less about, comedy wise, outside of Zohan which is a guilty pleasure :lol Reign on Me was fantastic though and Sandler never did enough with his dramatic ability unlike Jim Carrey.

Jackie Brown is a top 4 Tarantino film. Him going into horror would be cool but he won't touch Kubrick's venture into The Shining comparably so it's not something I care much about, I'd rather see him build his sci-fi repertoire up before getting into real horror. QT hasn't had an original idea for a film in quite some time.

Billy Madison/Happy GIlmore are 1a and 1b when it comes to sandler flicks waterboy is great lmaoooo zohan is the guiltiest of pleasures (hummus in/on everything :rollin :rollin) ... by the time big daddy/mr deeds etc. was released i was tired of his brand of comedy and stopped looking forward to his stuff ... I need to watch reign on me and punch drunk love one of these days tho
