Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

24 without Keifer is gonna suck. He was the only thing carrying the stale ideas the last few seasons.

I was hoping "Live Another Day" would cut out he filler since it jumped around in time but nope.

I just remember that it ended with Jack being handed off to the Russians. So I'm not sure if it was his choice not to come back

Watched Cellular the other night w bae. She loves crappy movies n how awful they are. This one was one major turd. Like it tries to be an action comedy at times but it fails so miserably at it. There's just no charm whatsoever in the comedy elements. Having said that, this actually would be suited well by a remake and being modernized to today's technology with iPhones and what not.

The 2004 flick with captain america? I loved that movie! It was a throwback to the classic 90's action movies like DIe Hard (without the violence). Jason Statham, Kim Basinger, not to mention Willaim H Macy who absolutely killed it! Matter fact, Imma go watch this right now :rollin

:lol That was on a few weeks ago. I caught the ending.

That movie was very corny. You right though JRS, those are the kind of movies Hollywood should be remaking as more serious action thrillers.

And yeah calibeebee calibeebee , the movie is definitely a call back to 90s movie in a bad way :lol I can get really liking it though.

Watched Warrior for like the 10th time. Every time this song comes on in the final scene hits me right in the feels.

First time I saw Warrior and that song started up in the final fight, I didn't even bother holding back the tears. I remember saying out loud "Oh well damn.." and let it happen. Tommy just wouldn't give up..

saw the martian last night. damon waa great but not oscar nomination great.

I know everyone loves John Wick, and for good reason, but I think one of my "I can watch it whenever" movies is Jack Reacher.

But Tom Cruise is just so damn cool in this movie.. throw in Robert Duvall and Rosamund Pike and it's got a lot to like in the cast. It's entertaining to watch Reacher investigate and the story unfold, and the action sequences are done really well. The bar fight, the final shootout, and the car chase scene when Reacher blends in with the crowd (my personal favorite).

^^

That was a cool scene, kinda reminds me of the opening scene in Drive. For me, personally what I liked about John Wick was the fact that Keanu is such a good dude in real life and while making John Wick, he actually trained Judo and Jiu Jitsu for the fight sequences and trained for the driving stunts as well. Meanwhile, if you replace Tom Cruise in that Jack Reacher scene with any other actor, it's still a good scene.

the fact that Keanu actually trained for the fight sequences allowed him to execute the choreography in real time without the film editors having to rely on quick, unnecessary cuts to give the illusion of the actor fighting in the finished product

What's some good movies to watch on Netflix. Like thrillers. Do you guys recommend beast of no nations. It's critically acclaimed, right?

jack reacher was so meh to me. i was expecting this huge blow your socks off ending and it felt anticlimactic. there were parts that were good by that movie just didn't do it for me. i dont think i can look at rosamund the same after gone girl. would be expecting a stab when least expected.

Totally agree with Jack Reacher being equally rewatchable. LOVED that film.

And that vid of Keanu absolutely showed in the film. His movement was extraordinary in every scene.

I know that feeling, man. I couldn't tell you how many crappy movies I watched with my friends back in the day.

Now I have no friends and I watch WHATEVER I WANT.

...

And on the Jack Reacher finale, I guess I can see it being a bit anticlimatic, but the movie was never that big in scale in the first place. It was a few people involved in a conspiracy framing some nobody.. a car chase, a street fight, and a final shoot out in an abandoned construction site.

I think it was a good movie, but by no means great. I just liked the detective aspect and there were just enough  cool moments for me to make it with it.

Ditto on the no friends thing Big J :hat

The TC movie w/ Cameron Diaz (forgot the name) was more entertaining than Jack Reacher.

The latter wasn't bad by any means though.

I'll have to give it a full watch.. I think I only caught bits and pieces of Knight and Day.

Just finished Creed:

7.9/8

When Max Kellerman asked him what would he say to his father if he was there. His response damn near made me cry. Coolger is 2/2 in making me almost cry. :{ When Donny went down, I was screaming at my tv like I was really there.

Man I'm bumping this to an 8/8 because I was so immersed in Adonis Creed's journey

There was a ton to love about Creed.. but I think my favorite moment was
in the final fight and last round, after Rocky tells him he loves him and he stands up and the classic Rocky theme kicks in... GOD DAMN I almost jumped out of my seat in the theater. That **** was PERFECT

Creed was surprisngly better than I thought it would be. I dont think I'd necessarily say it was snubbed for a Best Picture nom, but I can see the argument for MBJ being in the Best Actor running. He absolutely commanded the screen, delivered an amazing acting job. Im not sure who I'd drop from the noms, since I havent seen 4/5 of those movies, but he was great.

Creed is easily a 6.5/8 in my book. Might bump up after more viewings.
