Fox Orders Pilot For New ’24’ Series With Young Black Hero To Succeed Jack Bauer

After the 24: Live Another Day event series, which extending the original series with another chapter featuring Jack Bauer & Co., Fox is going for a full reboot with 24: Legacy, a new ongoing series with new all-new characters. Fox has given a pilot order to the project, from the 24 trio of Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz, which has Brian Grazer as executive producer. Original star Kiefer Sutherland is not expected to reprise his role as Bauer or be creatively involved in the project.

The new 24 series will revolve around a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him Fox logo horizontalto ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. I hear the twentysomething man, Eric Carter, was conceived as an African American, and the actors considered and approached for the part so far all have been black. Depending on how the casting process goes, I hear the character’s ethnicity could change but he will remain diverse. The female lead is a woman with a long history at the agency, a former head of CTU. 24: Legacy which retains the original’s real-time format with split screens and complex interweaving storylines, each episode representing one hour of an eventful day. Stephen Hopkins, who directed the original 24 pilots, is on board to direct the 24: Legacy.

There will likely be mentions of former CTU members from the original 24 series, including with photos, but there are no plans for any to have ongoing presence on the new series.

The pilot order comes after Gordon, Coto and Katz delivered a script, written by Coto and Katz, in December, which was very enthusiastically received at Fox.

24: Legacy is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions. Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Manny Coto, Evan Katz and Kiefer Sutherland are executive producers.

The original series, which ran for 8 seasons, was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran. It won an Emmy for best drama series when Sutherland won for best actor in a drama series.
If it wasn't for some of the new shows they've had that have been good and successes I'd be wondering is FOX almost in the same desperate state as NBC right now.

FOX just can't give up on 24 :lol Hopefully the show is better written this go around.

So now they're bringing back 24 for sure, X-Files, and Prison Break.

I just plowed thru all 8 seasons last year. :lol

I'll def check it out. Loved going thru it all. Had a ton of people pull thru that series.

Nobody gonna be better than Jack tho.

24 got boring after a while. Maybe they'll make the new character more interesting instead of terrorist fighting chuck norris.

I'm pretty sure Kiefer don't want to come back.

LIve Another Day was his last rodeo. I do bet if this return is successful he'll cameo or be the antagonist for one season.

It was okay.

I've already forgotten who the bad guy was but it was Jack being an international fugitive (like on the FBI's top 10 most wanted) trying to save the president and his ex-wife one more time. It had to do with terrorists and drones I think, definitely bombs, maybe sarin gas again? Had the fine actress Yvonne in it as well as Partlow from The Wire. I think the plot was to make America war with England :lol

It was only 12 hrs I think or they condensed 24 hrs in to 12 eps.

Anyone watch Brooklyn? I'm a fan of Saoirse Ronan and been wanting to check it out. Ever since watching Peaky Blinders and The Fall on netflix, i've been finding Irish women and their accents hot.

One of the best pictures last year and Ronan did a hell of a job. Better than Larson in room imo. She's looking good too add her to the awg starting 5 b

Only watched a few eps of that but they gave chloe a weird goth look. Gave her the girl with the dragon tattoo style.

Maybe it's because I marathoned and binged watched the whole series or maybe because the plot was always the same, but I couldn't tell you one season's events from start to finish.

I guarantee if I try to type out a whole season synopsis, it'll be 3-4 different seasons stories and characters.

Her family got taken out because they were tryin to get to Jack. So she kinda loses it. (understandably)

The best parts of the show was Jack and Almeda workin together. Those two were bad *****, CTU shoulda been undefeated with those two workin together. But they always managed to hinder one of them somehow to slow them down. :lol

Tony was a boss. Good heel turn by him.

Curtis was cool too. I think that was the character name of Roger Cross.

Watched Warrior for like the 10th time. Every time this song comes on in the final scene hits me right in the feels.
