Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Night School preview: Kevin Hart screaming one liners.

Sounds like we have seen this movie before.
Tiffany Haddish doesn’t belong on the Big or Small screen. She should either write or perform StandUp......not natural at all

She was good in Girl's Night or w/e it was with Latifah, Regina, and Jada.

To me it's really just type casting at this point. For everybody that's gone to the movies a good amount this past summer we've seen all the trailers for movies she's going to be in and even though she has different professions or roles within the story most of it is the loud ratchet type of character.

I feel she has more range than that or can do more variation wise. She needs to be in better comedies. She's kinda just getting paid with a lot of forgettable flicks.

Would like to see her write a (comedy) movie and star in it to see the difference.

Didn't like Haddish in 'Girl's Trip'. That whole "loud and blunt" shtick is played out and got annoying really quick. She has potential but she needs to tone that **** down.

Wassup with Cider?

That the one with Spidey and being a doctor?

And yea Christoper Robin was good. It was a feel good movie. Hit the feels a couple of times.

why did solo get such bad reviews? i thought it was pretty good even if you minus the nostalgic elements. it wasn't rogue one but it was still pretty fun. 6.6/8

Because people love to hate on the franchise as much as they can, warranted or not. It's what the internet does these days.

Could Solo have been better? Absolutely. I enjoyed it though. Enjoyed The Last Jedi also. I think Disney's output for Star Wars has been stellar specifically compared to the same time line of Marvel. Ya'll know how I feel about Marvel movies (comic movies in general).

I actually thought it was a movie about Chewie & Lando though... Kinda the same way Baby Boy was actually a movie about Yvette & not Jody...

I do think Kennedy is at a pivotal moment now though. She needs to make sure the ship continues steadily. The fiasco with Lord & Miller was inexcusable & I tend to think Kennedy was in the wrong in a number of ways.

Having said all that, I'm stoked about JJ coming back. I think he initially left bcs of some ish with Kennedy.

Please dear lort, a Boba Fett movie!!!!!!!

Yeah, they've all been decent - and if you compare them to the prequels they are outstanding.

Much as I love Lucas, them prequels... :smh: Those 3 movies (& Red Tails) are examples of having bad people around you (yes men). If I were in his circle of friends, I would've told George to stop it, stop it right there. Just no... I would not have allowed him to shoot those movies. He did have the foresight to pass it on though & I'm grateful for that. Especially cool that he's donating all that money to his philanthropy.

the only part i liked was when obi wan said you were supposed to be the chosen one

i loved you anakin you were my brother

what was wrong with red tails?

Red Tails should've been on par with Private Ryan or Band of Brothers (better). I mean for crying out loud its about the Tuskegee Airmen which is such an important/vital story to tell. But under Lucas the dialogue was really hokey. It was generally a very meh movie. It's funny, Lucas was so heavily influence by old Hollywood WW2 news reels & movies. You could see the influence in the original trilogy but the war plane scenes in Red Tails were just so meh. Honestly, I'd like to see someone redo Red Tails & give it what it deserves.

Edit - I remember going to the theater & was so excited for Red Tails because I thought it was going to be like Ryan or BoB. Kept hearing Lucas had been trying to make this flick for years, it was a passion project, putting Hollywood on blast for not wanting to make a film with an all black cast, yadda yadda yadda... I was so pissed at the end of that movie. That's when I realize Lucas was washed & that he had really really bad people around him....

Watching her in the trailer for the Tyler Perry movie she's in made me uncomfortable it was so overdone

:smh: @ WB... Henry Cavill is an excellent Superman, but the movies they gave him were absolute crap.

They should just scrap everything including the upcoming Aquaman & reboot. Hire someone like a Kathleen Kennedy or Kevin Feige to bring organization to their DC efforts... It's a calamity that affleck & Cavill are reportedly out of their Batman & Superman roles. affleck shouldn't have been hired in the first place.

Post Nolan, the only thing WB/DC has done right is Wonder Woman.

i agree with the post nolan assessment but even wonder woman was just an above average movie with an actress who was a stellar fit for the part. they lucked out with gal gadot.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This new show on Lifetime, You, is supremely ****** up

Its literally about this guy stalking this girl after meeting her once. He's clearly done many times before.

This super creep thinks he's thw down on his luck guy that gets tye girl in romcoms :smh:

Obviously tastes are different but I found Wonder Woman to be a very solid flick. I find myself watching it over & over on cable. It might be the only DC & Marvel movie that has distinct theme/action music out there right now. I was a doubter when Gal was announced bcs I wanted someone “thicker” & more voluptuous bcs I had Linda Carter imprinted in my brain (lawd hav mercy she was fine). Gal ended up being a phenomenal WW.

I honestly think most of the people that complain/hate these new Star Wars movies aren’t legit fans of the franchise.

Also thjnk all the haters are millennials from my experience. Of the old head Star Wars fans I personally know that are part of my generation, none of them hav any hate for the movies... Just my 2 cents though.

I watched John Wick.

The film was very John Woo-esque and Keanu Reeves was great.

I'm gonna watch Chapter 2 soon.

Re-watching Band of Brothers.

Such a great miniseries.

For those who haven't seen it, make sure you do. You won't regret it.
