Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I wanted to watch Bumblebee when it had first came out. But I didn't have the time. And now they don't have any dolby cinema showings for it anymore. I'm too spoiled to watch it in a standard cinema so I guess I'll wait lol

Haven't seen Glass yet. Will probably wait until it comes out on a streaming app.

But judging off of the word of mouth though, I'm going to guess the director must've went for some random twist at the end again.. I'm familiar with most of his work. He's always hit or miss with the twists and I'm guessing it was a miss.

That's unfortunate cuz I actually liked Split and I thought he was making a comeback lol

I'm about to watch Roma and maybe Bird Box.

I think aside from Daniel Day Lewis, Cumberbatch might be the finest actor out there. I’m still in awe of his performance in the mini series Patrick Melrose. There are some big scenes with great monologues from him but it’s really all the subtleties of his performance that made it such a virtuoso performance...
I feel he's great but really not to the point he's separated himself that much from everyone else. Not yet worthy to be singled out like DDL.

I need like half a dozen more amazing roles where he really stretches his range and transforms himself.

As a matter of opinion, I don't think one has to have the same resume as DDL to be considered in the same light. He also hasn't been around as long as DDL but I was blown away from his performance in Patrick Melrose. One of my all time favorite performances from an actor. I wish he had a better agency that got him better parts. Some of his choice in the movies he's done is very meh.

Separately, I forgot how much I loved Searching For Bobby Fischer. Solid cast & the kid playing the lead character Josh was awesome. They also got the perfect lil d**khead lookin' kid to play his nemesis who playing against him in the final match of the movie. Josh gave him the oop for a draw but lil self entitled p**ck didn't take it.

I wasnt talking about having the same resume.

I was talking about having better performances.

No one can have the same resume as DDL.

As far as time, I did throw out 6 more performances/roles before I elevate him there. That's lime 12 years worth of time.

Ah yes stuck out his hand to the kid so they could share the championship, lil bastard just grimaced at him.

I'm surprised Burning didn't even get a nom for Best Foreign Film.
I could understand Best Picture (even though it certainly could fit in there) but not even Best Foreign Film? Come on now...:smh:

Never knew wining Best Picture & getting a Best Editing nomination were tied so closely together. Only once in the last 20 years has a film won Best Picture without a Best Editing nomination & that flick was Birdman.

Saw 'Glass' yesterday. Wasn't as bad as the reviews are making it out to be. The pacing was just excruciating at times. I liked a lot of the connections with the first two films. Ending was ok but probably could have been executed a bit better. McAvoy bodied it. SLJ was great as well.

Looks like a poster for Surf Ninjas or something

The Wife 6/8

Watched last night. First time hearing about it was actually on the night of the Globes.

I didn't even watch a trailer beforehand, so I'm unsure if it was already implied that Joan ghostwrote for Joseph, but I had that feeling from the get-to. Either that, or she always wrote for herself, but her husband put her down because she was a woman/better than him. In reality, it was all those factors.

Joan loyal to a fault tho even on the plane ride home. Her breakdown in the hotel before his heart attack was top notch.

I’m about halfway through the Netflix movie IO and can already tell it’s gonna be a disappointing piece of original trash. They tryin real hard to get me to cancel this subscription
