Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

I saw mad praise for this, A24, some good actors, etc.

I'm thinking this mundane **** about to build to some wild sci-fi twist or straight up horror. I'm thinking at least it'll be like Carnage.

Nope.

Just had some arguments, revealed some ****, then just walked away and ended it. Wasn't even any closure to the story they did do.

Wasted some good actors.
Ultimately thats how I felt. Them paying so much attention to the condition of the house gave the impression that there would be some kind of creepy/horror element to it only to be disappointed. I kept waiting for something dramatic to happen and it never did.

Anybody watch The Humans on Showtime?

Felt like it was supposed to be deeper than what it was but it came out boring to me .

Yeah I watched. Posted a few weeks ago. Thought it was good. Especially for a first time director adapting it from a play.

I think if you're looking for good acting, cinematography and some relatable characters you'll like it for what it is. But if you want an involving storyline or plot you'll obviously have a bad time. That's not what it was supposed to me.

The family dynamic actual dialogue felt realistic but it didn't fully deliver for me.

I enjoyed mostly because of the eerie elements of the cinematography without it being a horror film. I like drab movies though. You're basically a fly on the wall of an American family revealing all their inner demons, anxieties and secrets during Thanksgiving in a claustrophobic setting. Thought the way they conveyed Richard Jenkins 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy PTSD was really effective. He was excellent.

I get why people would get bored with it though. There wasn't really a "story" per se.

I did enjoy the cinematography.

To start when the camera was coming down spiraling on the apartments, that weird and unique (and impossible) shape of the courtyard and how the apt buildings met. Other stuff like how they went upstairs to downstairs.

Is at the booth next to me at the restaurant where I’m eating lunch (Casablanca, Venice, CA) and I’m pretty excited about it.

I use trakt.tv for tracking, and used Zenobase to export the data.

Even minus the docs and short films, I should still be over 200.

Bro, I don't think I watch 30 films a year. I got a full time job, a part time job, I'm a single primary guardian of a teenager, just bought a house a few weeks ago, and I spend a lot of time watching underwhelming Lakers performances. I just don't see how I could watch even a 100 movies a year. 😬
