Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

The Mist
I remember wanting to watch it when it first came out but it was one of those things you just never got around to, you know? Saw that it's on HBO and just knocked it out right now.
Typical horror, except no cheesy lines or jump scares, so that was good.
Super predictable, very little character development, buuuut horror flicks aren't exactly known for building a good story... and this one doesn't.
But the end sealed the deal for me. Screw this movie. Hate it. That ending can go to h-e-double hockey sticks.
3/8

Sweatergawd I'm so mad at that final scene.
2/8 actually

Yeah, didn’t like the end, was like, “alright, felt like you just had him kill them, to kill them..” Real random.

SUPER random!!! Once the conversation switched to 'There's only 4 bullets in the gun but 5 of us' and it was clear what they were talking about, just literally out of the thin blue air, I literally looked at my TV like this:

Wife and I just watched one of the weirdest documentaries I’ve ever seen on HBO Max. Have any of y’all seen Tickled? Starts off about a sport called competitive endurance tickling and just goes from there

Stopped watching at the train
Legit didn't see it coming when it happened. I kept watching but fell off in one of the later seasons. Can't even remember if COVID killed it or it was in production hell already before Spacey got cancelled.

Bro, I was just asking about this.
HBOMAX really is needed.
They keep the heat!!!

Watching Internal Affairs as we speak.
First time watching that film too btw.
Slept on this one way too long.
It’s about to send me down a 90’s Crime/Thriller/Suspense rabbit hole for the next month. I can feel it now.

Covid had nothing to do with the fall off of House of Cards. That was entirely Spacey and MeToo.

If y’all stopped at the train scene y’all missed a lot of great seasons after that.

The last 2 seasons were when things basically fell a part. The reasoning for Frank stepping down, forcing Claire in to being VP, the wedge between the two, the Russian, etc. Just some truly warped storytelling that was not satisfying enough

I believe that was the point of the whole movie. shock factor and depressing ending. the funny part of that ending is what if he decided to help Carol get her children early in the film. he and his son would have survived just like Carol and her children did only if he went with her. it took me a long while to take it in to finally realize that it is Grimm Bros ending and not a Disney fairy tale ending. the ending is really depressing but overall, I give it a 10/10. before that, I gave it a 0/10 because it depressed me a lot.

Nah, I'm not giving them that out. Jake Gyllenhaal's 'Life' doesn't end with the good guys killing the alien. It has an ending that makes you go "Oooooh, f..."

But it made perfect sense. Like I said, the story telling in The Mist is an F minus before the end, so that super random, out of nowhere ending... it literally just made no sense why they would make that decision together at that time.

Life's ending for me gave me that, "Oh Shiiii*" expression. "The Mist" on the other hand, made me go "Mfcker". Difference was the futility of having hope. One went out to try to survive the situation hoping that they would make it. While the other one lost hope after struggle after struggle and called
it quits.

Felt the exact same way!!! Was so heated by that bull **** ending. M. night shalayman HAD to have ghost written an ending like that.

I’d say most top 10 lists of bad movie endings on the internet will have The Mist and like 3 M night movies on it :lol

I was so hyped for The Village in 2004 man. What a let down. For having such a terrible ending it's still an OKAY watch. Lots of talent, great acting/directing, then BAM

I absolutely loved the village and still think it gets a bad rap. I forget, someone in here mentioned that It’s connected to other movies in his universe? Split/Unbreakable/ Glass?

Maybe the land conservation place in the ending is the place that Split dude was hiding his victims or something like that?

Anyways I have no qualms with shamalayayans films until Lady in the Water.

I'll let you know tonight, because it's... happening.
