Me? I'm watching The Martian...... Again.

I cannot tell you how much I love this film because of the complexity of the situations.

Your crew goes 4 months thinking they killed you, that guilt, to then the guilt of leaving you behind, alive.

The smartest humans on the planet trying to figure out how to get you. Other countries even helping the process.

The president mad at the head of Nasa cuz of foul language :rollin

"He's 50 million miles from Earth, thinks we abandoned him, what does that do to a man's psyche?"

*Cut to Mark Whatney listening to loud Gloria Estefan music* :lol :lol :lol

The job politics of who says what, when, how etc. Like not wanting to tell the crew, but Bean wants to, then him sending them the possibility to force NASA's hand and losing his career over it.

People from 20 years earlier coming back to use previous technology from a past mission.

Just a wonderfully thought out/written book and script and the cast nails every beat.

Name anything else that would bring this entire planet together for a common goal. It's strangely one of the most positive films I've ever watched. One of the few films that gives one hope in humanity.

Look at Walking Dead/The Last of Us, it's humanity fighting over scraps rather than working together. The Martian shows the better half of human life. Extremely rare film.

Bolded for emphasis.. it's an underrated feel good movie. Very optimistic and hopeful. It's a joy to watch.

I watch true romance earlier as a pregame movie. First time I've seen it in a couple of years. It's officially one of my favorite movies. Great over the top action by Tony Scott, good performances. The score by Hans Zimmer is incredible, but with just stands out is the dialogue by Tarantino. So many characters and scenes. You only see one time are incredibly memorable. Gary oldman Christopher Walken Dennis Hopper hell even Brad Pitt scenes are incredible, but the dialogue just jumps off the screen. It's just so memorable and each character is so unique. Even the movie producer in the final negotiation before the Mexican sandoff. His character is just written so well... The dialogue is just incredible in this movie

I 100% call True Romance QT's best film. No disrespect to Tony Scott at all. I love that film/cast/dialogue as well. It's like Tarantino reading you a bedtime story narrated in his voice.
On of the deepest casts in movie history. I bet that script went thru Hollywood like an STD :lol

LOVED it. The whole movie definitely hit different because Bateman, Van Patten, Carruthers, Paul Allen, etc reminded me soooo much of some of my friends, folks from my grad school and guys I occasionally have to work with. Movie is 23 years old but the stereotypes still hold true today :ohwell:

The ending THO :wow: Definitely caught me off guard. I know what the director/writers have said but I also believe that all of the “theories” out there about it are extremely plausible. If there’s one thing that you can take away from that movie…

So I’m watching Highlander in 4K and man oh man did that movie look good in 4K. This was back when the only special effects you needed was your charisma and it delivered.

When it’s time to close the shop and you tell your employee to turn off one specific light but you find the building in total darkness..

In the business card scene, everybody’s card said “Vice President” :smh:

B Bronson - I peeped that because I am generally interested in titles IRL so that stood out to me as odd  This was one of those movies I did some reading up on after. It didn't 100% dawn on me while watching but one of the themes of the movie was that all those dudes were the same. Similar cards, same title, same clothes, same accessories, etc. which is why they were always mixing each other up.

So in the card scene specifically they were talking about fonts, stocks, font colors, etc but it was pointless because they were all the same. Essentially they were all competing to check off these boxes and be the same guy but in the process made them indistinguishable except for the fact that they were rich dudes with connections. Crazy how much
