I’ll take my due and proper once you’ve finished and leave a detailed review.

Edge of Tomorrow is dope. Sci-fi is probably my fave genre and this is a really fun movie. Cruise starts off as a pretty unlikable character. He tries to use his positional power to talk himself out of the situation. It doesn’t go well and he gets shipped off to battle. The time loop allow him to have a good character arc and by the end you’re invested in him and want to see him succeed. Unexpectedly, there are low key funny moments (including death sequences) in the movie. I can imagine a theater audience watching this movie and bust out laughing at some parts in the movie.

I knew this was a time loop movie going in but that’s about it and it was way better than I expected. I was expecting it to be like another sci-fi Oblivion, interesting concept that doesn’t quite hit on anything but nah, this movie was a treat.

6.5/8

My son happened to have The Last Jedi on when I came home a little while ago and I saw the end. It occurred to me that the design of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber - with the little beams coming out the side - while cool looking, is not practical. Seems just as likely those little beams could hurt him than do anything serious to an opponent.

Lol I thought the exact same thing when I saw it, it’s not like they add anything and suddenly he’s gonna slice off half his wrist and be Nearly Wristless Ky, straight out of dogtown.

Is it just me or have the ignition noises of the lightsabers become less dramatic over the years? Like if you listen to Lukes lightsaber when he ignites it for the first time in A New Hope, that thing really makes some hums.

First time this weekend

William H. Macy is another old head who is quintessential at his usual role (lying, thieving scumbag  ). It was aight but those accents really rustled my jimmies (no disrespect jpzx jpzx )
That’s not how anyone 40 minutes any way from the Twin Cities talks. We’re talking near the borders toward ND, even though the movie fashioned it like it was everywhere in Minnesota.

Great movie, but honestly why do you think most news stations have their people talk like they are from Minneapolis/Chicago/big cities in the Midwest? In these big Midwest cities we have the most accentless voices. I can tell Boston, I can tell south, I can tell NY, I can tell West coast (though that’s the hardest of the examples).

People only talk like they do in the movie Fargo, in the rural parts of the state or Dakotas, hence Fargo. We have metropolis (Minneapolis/St. Paul) and rural here (Willmar, Hibbing, etc.) but one has accents and one doesn’t. Most people make the same conclusion as you though where it’s assumed it’s all of us, so nothing hurt but a teaching moment.

I have seen Reno 911: Assignment Miami Beach many times. It was not until tonight that I noticed there is a Golden State Warriors flag (Baron Davis-era uniforms) in the apartment bedroom of Deputy Mayor Jeff Spoder (played by Patton Oswalt), who is supposed to live in Miami.

Totally insignificant to the movie, but because I’m both a basketball and film nerd, it excited me.

I loved 30 Rock when it was on, but I never found the desire to rewatch it.

Rewatched Looper tonight.. it's even better than I remember. Straight and to the point, good action, didn't get hung up on time travel paradoxes, good performances, Emily Blunt was the standout, just a really well made movie.

The OG “Wall Street” :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Michael Douglas getting his flowers :smokin :smokin

Wolf of Wall Street is whole ‘nother. That would definitely be on my list of movies I have seen infinite times. I have been putting a re-watch on hold because it is (or at least was) one of those movies that rubs off on me (pause). Last two times I watched it was DIFFERENT  |l

not me.

Money Never Sleeps was the sequel, pretty random now.

The lightsabers opened and just buzzed without much music over it in 4-6 mostly if I remember some scenes right, music mixed over maybe made that sorta moment less dramatic in 7-9.
