Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

How you weird on me out of nowhere  ***** *** ive always been nice to.
I am so sorry! I appreciate your kindness and I’ve always liked you a lot!

I totally misinterpreted your post

I thought you were trying to say something mean, but you weren’t

I feel terrible

watching the Indiana Jones for the first time (i know, i know). so far:

Raiders of the Lost Ark: great...loved it pretty much start to finish
Temple of Doom: barf...lame as hell IMO. female lead was such an annoying character. and it's low key offensive as **** to indian folks. but now i get the office line with angela about monkey brains

that said, looking forward to the next two which i've heard/know will be better than temple of doom. and then the new one in theaters as well, of course

Raiders is clearly great - and I love Last Crusade, but Crystal Skull is definitely not better than Temple of Doom. It clearly has issues but there are some decent parts - the whole starting sequence is great. Crystal Skull doesn't really have much at all.

I am looking forward to Dial of Destiny - but I'm also slightly nervous about it.

Got folks in here that have never seen Indiana jones movies?? Y’all don’t deserve cinema, for real

Jk jk

It just amazes me, watching any movie before you watch Indian Jones. Like, what’s the point? “Can’t wait to see The Equilizer 2!!!” But haven’t seen freaking Indiana Jones??? Mind bottling.

Yeah, I mean the Library of Congress selected Raiders of the Lost Ark for special preservation but it's just some movie...

For what it’s worth, Spielberg set out to make Temple of Doom campy and a little over-the-top. It was his homage to action films he liked as a kid. Knowing that has made me appreciate the film more now than I did back in the day.

But the dinner scene is still overly ridiculous.

Never have had interests in westerns but I’ll give them an honest shot this year.

Just finished this

It was only okay and didn’t live up to hype for me

Check out Slow West.

It’s one of the better “new” westerns.

that's good context to know

I disagree. Munny was a changed man while Little Bill was actively doing dirt. Little Bill didn’t deliver Justice for the prostitutes and he unjustly beat/killed Ned. Munny did terrible things but it clearly had been a looooong time since he was in the game by how poor of a shot he was and the fact that he struggled to get up on a horse every time. Part of me is wondering if the stories of how terrible of a person he was were fabricated and he was only confessing to doing those things to be a tall-tale like figure and scare folks. Especially when multiple times throughout the movie the word-of-mouth story is more fiction than what actually happened
Munny wasn't changed. he accepted the job as a hired assassin. he killed a remorseful young cowboy who wanted to make-up for whatever wrongdoing they had done and offered the prostitute a horse in payment for that. that b*tch of a madam interfered and wanted blood and hired assassins and did what they do best like the prostitute that they are. Munny even broke the law of not surrendering his firearm even when politely asked to surrender it. he even killed an unarmed man just because he was pissed off with the saloon's decoration. and even threatened a bystander who just wanted to chat with him. lastly, he admitted that he murdered women and children. he ain't a saint, he is a bad man. the only valid reason to Kill Bill was that he was a terrible carpenter. Bill even defended the U.S. from that annoying English Bob.

When the teaser trailers for Dial of Destiny first released, I made the mistake of reading the youtube comments. I had no idea that the women haters chose Phoebe Waller-Bridge bae as a target. Saw almost all hate comments about her and how the movie is horrible because she's in it. She wasn't one of the writers but somehow she convinced everyone that her character would be Indiana Jones' replacement. She did help write No Time To Die which was a very good movie but they claim she also ruined it.

I’m seeing it ASAP. Love it or hate it movie and I think I’ll be on the positive side.

At random times over the years on here, yes. In person even less. I learned as a young adult that it usually makes things pretty awkward, and then you also have people who don't believe you, or people who try to relate with "Yeah, my childhood sucked, too. My mom was such a freaking alcoholic and my dad used to cuss us all out every night." And like, there's no such thing as the Trauma Olympics, but... I'm not typically one to 'Yeah, me, too" when someone mentions something. But yeah, I really just stopped mentioning it in person somewhere along the way.

Been working on a book about my step-mom the last few years, even if just for my own... "sanity," as suggested by a therapist a few years ago after hearing ALL of everything.

im sorry you went through that. i hope youre in a better place.
