Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Finished my Sopranos watch last night.

Feel like a jackass for waiting so long to watch that, it was awesome.

Many Saints of Newark not so much.
It was the opposite for me on Many Saints.
I finally watched that last New Year and immediately went to SOPRANOS rewatch.

Love Many Saints because of the UNIVERSE

Did you guys like Wonka? I thought it was ok. Felt like a very British film (forgot where it took place). chalamet's singing voice kinda sucks.
I love the Paddington movies and this felt like a Paddington movie, but with Willy Wonka instead of a bear... I liked it more than I thought I would. Some of the songs and the musical numbers weren't great so I think that heard it a little bit but I would watch it again

Saw Blackberry today... I absolutely loved it. Although I read a comment on Reddit that really hit home. That 10% of this movie felt like an SNL parody sketch and I think it really was in some of the hair and makeup. I just didn't believe Jay baruchel was anyone besides the actor and a wig. He was a good actor and his performance was strong. But oh man it kind of took me out of the movie. Glen howardson was outstanding. Powerton whatever I'm using. Speak to text. He was excellent and I was very impressed with this performance as someone who paid attention to phones and tech and had a blackberry and would even brag about how the specs were better than the iPhone at the time. Blah blah blah this movie was very fun for me

It was well shot and directed in a lot of moments too. It felt like a documentary/ drama/comedy and I was highly impressed

I gave sopranos a proper re-watch about 6 months ago and it was even better than I remember... And now it's become a background show. Throw it on when I don't know what to put on and it's just as good when watching it randomly as a comedy and you get sucked into the good episodes

Wonka was great, especially if you care if these young dudes can actually get to Damon, Leo level… Chalamet has that hope and this movie clinched that. I wasn’t impressed by what he did in the first Dune. But this was some crazy versatility.

Liked blackberry and the Uber movie. Still have to get to Tetris.

Just finished probably my 12th rewatch right before I started my BW Empire rewatch.

Sopranos quotes live rent free in my head. Between Sopranos and Curb I feel like I have a reference or quote for every second of my life

I’ve never seen it, but I know 0 people that watched it that said it was not good

So

One of my favorite podcasters and Twitter followers Tyler, I am said once you realize sopranos is a comedy, it's a totally different show. It has multiple laugh out loud moments an episode

Man I think I’ll cave and watch Love and Death.
Jesse Plemmons NEVER disappoints and neither does Elizabeth Olsen.
I’m also super into Lily Rabe for some reason after watching Tell Me Your Secrets. She doesn’t try hard at all and that makes her fire. Plus think I saw her nude once with a nice little under package.
Church going folk having affairs and killing each other, quite the subject.

Iono man.....

Up there for sure, but that's bold to say #1.
It just hits so many marks consistently...

It's the LeBron James of TV shows. Maybe it doesn't have the same peak as some other shows but start to finish. Its as consistent and it can be funny. Dramatic. There can be action, there's deeper elements beyond just what you see.. the way it uses therapy as a literary device to explore the characters in the show and the themes.

It's just consistently great all the way through.

I agree it's great. Zero argument there.

But Breaking, Saul, Wire, GoT all belong in the discussion as well. (Might even unite Breaking/Saul as one show)

I don't know if character for character, episode for episode writer for writer it's better than Wire or Breaking.

I'm as big of a breaking bad fan as there is... But just putting on the show seasons. One and two are flat out. Not as fun as the later seasons. Same goes for better call Saul thoroughly episodes were really good but I do not have a desire to rewatch them like I would other shows

What it builds to in the overall experience? They're elite but I don't put better. Call Saul in the elite category for the entire length of the series.

Like I'm saying, I think the sopranos is the most complete show. The wire has the advantage with character developments but they were plenty of scratch. Your head moments in seasons 2 and 5

Game of Thrones absolutely not. I've never seen a show ruin its legacy as much as that show did in the final couple of seasons

Man, you ain't neva lied about GoT missing their mark. :lol :{

4 episodes totally crashed what WAS the greatest show we'd ever see. Stick those final 4 (the first two were just setting the board pieces and still building towards an epic close)

I know Breaking/Saul also start out slow(er) kind of the opposite of Dexter. World building and setting the stage and what not, but not every ep of Sopranos was some masterpiece. There were plenty of filler eps and as a total product there was a lot of meandering thru arcs that didn't really payoff the way the Breaking/BCS universe did. Sometimes I watched eps wondering where the **** we goin with this, what is the end goal?

GoT was clear, and went side of the mountain.
Breaking was clear and paid off.
Saul was clear and paid off.
The Wire kind of closed too soon. Left meat on the bone. Imo.
Sopranos had a great close but a wandering middle.

I’ll say it. I can’t get into Sopranos. I’ve tried twice now. Gotten to maybe about episode 3 not sure don’t remember just really didn’t feel like continuing to grind away. Really want to like it. I’ll give it one more shot maybe how many episodes do i gotta watch. Breaking Bad was somewhat similar it took me a few attempts to properly break the seal. The commitment overwhelms me.

It's six seasons. It's absolutely worth the watch.

By no means am I saying it's not. I'm just not handing it the #1 slot is all. It's 100% top tier quality television. Certainly worthy of conversation and comparison. I just don't give it #1 is all.

Definitely watch it. Make the time.

I used to be a huge Spike Lee fan but I haven’t watched any of his movies after Inside Man. Finally got around to watching this
