Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Does anyone like those musician biography movies? Feel like the recent ones were made for the purpose of trying to win oscars.
I’ve said on here before that they’re not my thing. I prefer music documentaries.

I don’t think that they’re created specifically to be Oscar bait so much as it’s a genre that has historically done well with the Academy, going back to movies like Amadeus and La Bamba in the 80s (and probably some before that).

I usually enjoy music biopics, especially those where I'm not that familiar with the subject matter. I also don't really get too caught up in historical inaccuracies as these films are meant to entertain and the directors/writers may change things that either don't translate well on screen or aren't that important. Like in the last Elvis movie I realize it was a highly dramatized account and they left out much of his dark times later in his career.

We have Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson coming next year.

Wonder when Prince is going to get a movie.

As a movie they can be entertaining and good. As a historical retelling of somebody's life, these are usually bland and miss too much of any problematic issues any one person may have had.

Walk Hard is still the GOAT music bio movie 8)

Perhaps I need to re-watch Casino. Seen Goodfellas too many times to count. Probably a top five favorite movie ever.

I don’t like musical biopics anymore because they all have the same beats. The trajectory of the plot always follows the same pattern for the most part.

Getting some Christmas movies in early with the kids....anyone else have a hard time deciding between Home Alone 1 & 2? Always change my mind on which one I like better

Damn, they are on Denzel’s head hard. Damn.
(I wonder if the Directors Cut will keep the kiss)

Just got back from gladiator 2. Movie was piff. Dope action. Some stellar acting from multiple characters. Scenes were gorgeous. Costumes plush and colorful. Zel is goated.

I go to the AMC screen unseen every now and then too. I tell you, I was shocked when Gladiator II started playing. It's usually a much smaller indie type film.

Anyway, I came away disappointed. The performances were solid and I feel like there could've been a good movie in there but this was a 5/8 at best.
