Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Again though, none of those movies are in the same category to me.  Otherwise Alien would be the #1 movie all time.  Predator would be #2.

I'm talkin mass scale, the whole world now knows, Alien invasion type movies.  The Thing, 10 dudes knew about that alien.  Thas it.
Signs got some time on TV and what not, a cool little ship came and all that, but there were like 3 aliens walkin around in some corn stalks.

Not the same thing as seeing the White House blown to peices by a giant laser beam ya know?

So I count all those as seperate movies entirely.

so you are talking about summer blockbuster, blow everything up, aliens get a lot of screen time type movie?

the new war of the worlds is pretty underrated. I like both men in blacks a lot. I still think independence day is the best but hey maybe battle LA is good

are there any R rated alien movies like that?

Actually, as far as all-time great alien movies, I would rate Aleins, the sequel, as the best. And not just because Reebok released a special shoe for the movie. I have Predator #2, then the original Alien.

Darren Aronofsky drops out of the Wolverine sequel. Really disappointing because I like the angle he was going with and I figured he could do  great job of providing Wolverine with an edgier/darker story

Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky will no longer be helming the Wolverine sequel for Twentieth Century Fox. In a statement issued by the studio, Aronofsky said, “It became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year. I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time.

I didn't even know he was going to direct. I feel like a major studio would have him on a short leash. But yeah it makes sense with what just happened over there especially the nuclear problem

is he still doing robocop?

Oh I agree, I loved Aliens WAY more then the OG.  Paxton had me rollin in that movie, plus their guns/weapons/toys were way cooler.

That sucks about Wolverine.  But does make sense with Japan and all that.  At some point we need to iron out a lot of the X-Men stuff, because it's all over now.  After X 1, and 2, I thought they were going to be a big problem, but then all of a sudden the whole franchise has gone sideways.  X3, spin offs, serious lack of focus goin on with that series.  I hope somehow someone comes along and straightens everyone back out.

It's probably for the best Aronfonasky backed out. I can't see Fox letting him do everything the way he wanted.

I liked the first Alien better but they are completely different movies. The 2nd one is pure action

Zach Snyder has also said the new Superman, rumored to be called Man of Steal will ignore previous movies and stand on it's own.

I was in the minority that didn't think Superman Returns was that bad, because I realized Bryan Singer was continuing and paying homage to the first two... but I'm looking forward to this reboot. Nolan overseeing he project, Snyder is a good choice, hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Superman needed a reboot badly... Separate entirely from what they did in the past...

It's a shame the kid that played Clark Kent last time around got dragged through the mud with that last movie. He was actually really solid in that role.

I agree, I thought Superman Returns was at least "decent"

I liked Routh, Spacey was good, I LOVED it when he stabbed him with the Kryptonite and broke it off in his ribs.

But Posey and Bosworth both bothered me, the kid bothered me, Olsen, Perry White were not memorable at all.  The whole land mass thing was weird to me.

This was a lot like the Alien movies for me, about 20 minutes or so of this would be useful in a "new age" Superman flick.

But the way Snyder does things visually, and if Nolan's team can put together a good script........could be on to something.  I'm hopeful.

Damn. I was kinda looking forward to Wolverine 2 because of Aronofsky....yeah that's over now.

And I see where you coming from Big J. Superman's got a lot of really good moments in it. It's just...kinda felt like it was spinning it's wheels, yaknow?

I just remember X3 being so %$@@!!@ terrible and thinking...aight...if Singer gave X-Men to Brett Ratner and let it die for Superman, this better be X2 good. This better be change your life Coen brothers good. It was not. And what the hell was up with that kid?

Bradley Cooper might be the next to sign on to The Great Gatsby (Leo, Carey Mulligan and Tobey McGuire are already confirmed).

Not exactly sure how I feel about that, but I can't tell you guys how much I'm looking forward to this movie.
