Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Bradley Cooper might be the next to sign on to The Great Gatsby (Leo, Carey Mulligan and Tobey McGuire are already confirmed).

Not exactly sure how I feel about that, but I can't tell you guys how much I'm looking forward to this movie.

You don't like Cooper Kev?

I like him alot actually.  Always have.  And he's putting together a pretty decent resume, along with some random type roles.  Wedding Crashers, A-Team, Hangover, Limitless, the one he did with Renee Z (can't think of the name right now, case 39 maybe?)  a couple chick flicks, I mean, he can pretty much fit into any type movie.

And if he does add Gatsby........

He has something on his resume called the midnight meat train.  I'm afraid to click on that one.

I mean, I like him in his comedy roles.

I don't know. He actually might be a great cast as Tom Buchanan.

Midnight Meat Train is about a serial killer butcher. I always had those similar concerns about it.

Gotcha, you're wondering if he can hang with Leo, Tobey, Carey, etc.  His performance will have to be top notch, if he slips he'll stick out like a sore thrumb so to speak.

Checkin the page, Tom is sort of a "Richard" correct?  So he could be a more serious douche bag like he was in Wedding Crashers, something to the effect.

I saw that Scarlett was their first choice but she was busy elsewhere, so they went to Carey.  I see you Leo, I'd start with Scarlett myself you sly dog you.

I think Cooper plays a good Tom.

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but they must see something in him that they like. I won't be surprised if he can fill the role perfectly.

Why wouldn't Fox let Aronofsky have creative freedom? Black Swan and The Wrestler were distributed by Fox Searchlight and, with their success, it's obvious that he can deliver. Maybe not final cut, but pretty close to it I would imagine.

As far as Cooper goes, he's getting to the point where he can choose some solid leading roles. It'll be interesting to see what he does with this leverage.

Bradley Cooper seems kinda like Ryan Reynolds to me. I like him a lot in comedies and rom-coms/chick flicks, but I'm not sure how much I like him outside of those genres. I do think Cooper has quite a bit more range than Reynolds, though.

I shouldn't have said he might be the next to sign on, as if the role was offered to him. He's just lobbying for it.

Speaking of Leo, I guess he spazzed on Clint Eastwood for not letting him re-shoot a J. Edgar scene that he thought he didn't do convincingly enough.

I just don't trust Fox period with any of their stuff, we all know how they could get.
I didn't know Tobey was signed on for Gatsby, looking forward to seeing him in something other than a blue and red leotard. Might have to finally catch The Cider House Rules too.

Cider House Rules is very good.  Quality acting accross-the-board by Michael Caine, Tobey and Delroy Lindo.  As an added plus, Charlize Theron looks really good in it too.

Another non-Spidey movie with Maguire that I liked was Wonder Boys, which Michael Douglas and Robery Downey Jr.
