Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Keep it here. There are movie buffs and knowledgeable guys in General too who might not check Sports, but it would get too cluttered with randoms who might not commit or you're not familiar with.

Well, if we get 10-12 folks to participate, we could go 5 deep a decade, much like an NBA team so to speak.  Or if that's not enough, go 10 movies, so you have a "roster" of movies to select from.  Make sense?

But I'm on it, so if it's good, I'll thank you for it later.

What do you mean a pissed off director though?  What is the story to that?  And I liked IM 2, I don't see why anyone would think it wasn't as good as 1.  I read a bunch of interviews after the fact, and Jon never sounded upset about anything.

This movie should've got sincere hype. I got put onto it, because the director wrote Long Kiss Goodnight and that was my movie way back. I don't wanna overhype it, but I love this movie.

From what I understand, it would've made sense for Thor and Cap to come out after Iron Man and Hulk, before the Iron Man 2 and the Avengers movie. But Iron Man did so damn good, that they put the rush order on #2. They locked down locations before they really had a script. They started filming before they worked out the problems or finished the dialogue on the script. The studio made him throw in all this Avengers stuff that he didn't want. And all that happened after Favreau wanted to direct the Avengers movie (which makes sense since he started this Marvel revolution) but instead they gave it to Joss Whedon. Sounds like that pissed him off pretty good.

I think the first movie is a little easier to make, because there's nothing you're forced to put in, you get a blank canvas. It says a lot that Iron Man 2 had a year and a half to be written, shot, cgi-d and printed from when they announced it, but they ended up pushing back Thor and Cap a year when they realized, it's stupid to make a cgi-heavy myth movie from scratch in 2 years. (Transformers 2)

Basically, Jon Favreau was the quarterback of this thing. He had that Peter Jackson, Zach Snyder, James Cameron, Sam Raimi before Spider-man 3 swag, until the studio decide they didn't need him or his input anymore. Sucks.

My fault for rambling. I just think Iron Man 2 was an underrated-ly bad movie and it was all the studio's fault. No one should think it was good. Especially after how good most of the first one was.

And I really like that decade draft idea.

Yeah, five rounds seems good. I mean damn if we had 10-12 people and we do 10 rounds we got somewhere from 100-120 movies for one decade (yeah, you all probably could do that simple math by yourself. You're probably even replaying the Social Network scene in your head right now "Now that's an additional $1,000 on top of that $16,000 which comes up to $17,000.... "hold on for a second, I just want to check your math on that"..... "yep, that's what I got too

It all depends on what side of the fence you live on, I for one think it's a masterpiece.

Decade draft would be sick...

On the comic movies... I can't help but be hyped for the Avengers movies. I don't look at them the same way I do the Batman series, though... New X-Men, I dunno. Got a sour taste in my mouth from X3 still... Batman and Robin is the undisputed crappiest superhero movie of all-time. Nothing matches it.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was a blind-buy for me on BD when it was like $8 at Best Buy... Pretty solid flick. Didn't know it was a comic movie.

Haven't seen Religulous yet, however I think I'm going to like it a lot. For what it's worth, I'm Catholic... but the fact that it "exposes" just about every religion paired with Maher's comedy style makes me believe I'm going to enjoy it thoroughly.

Oh, I wouldn't be able to participate; thanks, though. If illmaticsoulchild were to participate, I think it would be great. Besides him, the people who come to mind and ususally know what they're talking about in General are on your list.

Same here I got it on BD for $5 when Universal or WB was running that deal where you can trade in any DVD disc and get any BD for $5

Sign me up for the draft and I was wrong, KKBB isn't based on a comic book.

Also, if I were Mark Mcgwire, Barry Bonds or any other 90's AMERICAN hr hitter, I would be counting the days, until Capt. AMERICA is released.  Being that they all have so much in common.

It's not either.

It's just the guy who wrote and directed it is gonna write and direct Iron Man 3 with RDJ again.

And for the draft, we need some damn limits on it. I mean I'm not trying to see Casablanca and Citizen Kane get drafted.

Should we have more than one? One for the aughts, one for the 90s or 80s maybe. I think it'd be a bit much trying weigh Seven Samurai against Fight Club or Pulp Fiction. Maybe the limit should be movies from the past 20 years? If any of you say City Lights or Metropolis, I'm gonna petition Meth to get you banned.
