Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

It should definitely be nominated, but the fact that it's won so many awards, and will probably win tonight, is disappointing to me.

My sentiments exactly. I understand and accept that it's nominated, but a win would irk me.

Big J, maybe mediocre was the wrong choice of words on my part, but I just don't see it being a film worthy for Best Picture, Golden Globes and/or Oscar. The same goes for Affleck in directing.

I'm not the only one who thinks Samberg made a big mistake leaving SNL, am I?
Was Celeste and Jesse Forever any good? Been meaning to find that.

His cameo in Nick and Norah is low-key one of my favorites ever. :lol

I completely forgot about it until I saw the spirit awards.

I think I remember people saying it wasn't so good, but I still kinda wanna watch all of those to sort em out.

That Silver Linings, Safety, Liberal Arts, Ruby Sparks, Perks, Celeste crew.

Silver Linings

Safety Not Guaranteed

Perks

Ruby Sparks

Celeste

Liberal Arts

- Ruby was an interesting premise

- Celeste made a decent effort to be different

- Liberal Arts... if you have a problem with thirty something white people complaining about their life, then you'll hate it. Because that's not what it is completely, but people could easily interpret it as that. Elizabeth Olsen is absurdly charming and adorable so that makes it a must watch.

I saw the trailer, and it looked kinda dumb, but I intend on watching every movie she's in til further notice, so... :lol

She's what I hoped Alison Brie would be as a film actress, until I realized, she really is Annie Edison.

Anyone seen this movie, saw on Netflix a couple weeks ago and thought it was interesting.

Yes, it's a great movie.

Check out Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, two of my favorite movies and they're all written by Charlie Kaufman (who also wrote Malkovich)

Does anyone know if they do an oscars rerun or if they put it on Hulu or anything?

They don't rerun it, and I think they'll only put up clips on their site.

But it'll probably be easy to find on youtube or anywhere else.

Sat down and watched the Red Dawn remake. Eh, it was decent enough. They weren't re-inventing the wheel or anything, just telling an old story in a new way. It was fine. Liked the intial visual of waking up to the country being invaded, that was really really nice. I can't even imagine opening my door to seeing dozens of parachutes on their way down. Really really liked that scene.
Thor and a bunch of no name folk go out to start terrorizing soldiers and take the time to spray paint their name on things cuz that means something, obviously a bit of a corny premise, but the point is, what would happen if this place got invaded like that? With 2 White House takeover movies comin out this year, it's obviously on the mind of the creative minds of Hollywood. If we can imagine zombies taking over, why not other countries with guns and actual brains? So i took it as that. It was worth the one watch, maybe another glance someday if any of these guys become someone like how Sheen and Swayze and so on did with the og. Sorta look back on them from the beginning if any of them make it. Liked Thor, he was solid, I was happy with him even if he was just killin time til the next Avengers caper. 90 minutes, if you got it to kill, it won't hurt you to glance thru it.

Rewatched a couple as well. Die Hard 4, cuz, well, I don't know. Hadn't seen it since the first watch, wanted to re-check it. Was alright, just pissed me off with the whole jet scene, but everything else, meh. That's what John McClaine's life is like I guess. You'd think he just like Jack Bauer would just be straight up paid in full by the country and sent to an island somewhere to live out his days. Lol You tellin me NO rich people gave him money for saving all the countries gold in the third film? :rollin Loved Justified as the bad guy, he was excellent, loved the daughter, she was feisty as hell, Justin Long I coulda done without, but whatever. Guess I'm ready to watch 5 when it comes out on tv next month.

Rewatched Wanted. Didn't know who McAvoy was back then, obviously do now, was interested to see how he was since I forgot almost all of that movie outside of Angelina is ******g ridiculous hot when she wants to be. Brad must have his hands full, he has to. Anyways, it was alright. Morgan is outta place in it, and the whole fate angle bothers me, but the premise of the assassins part I did like. Action was decent, some of the dialogue was really cool, but it was a little off track the way it went about it. Same story, more straight laced probably works better. I'm good on the shoot from another city, threw a coffee cup of your ex freind, thru the donut of the ex boss, around corners, past your old house, into your old cube with the decoy. Let's try to do better than that please. Why not add a richocet or somethin cool huh? :{

Last one was Drive.............script musta been about 6 pages double spaced. Nobody ****** talks in that movie. :lol I remembered that Gosling was really quiet, but so many scenes with Mulligan, she says nothing, he wrecks the car with Hellboy, Hellboy on the beach, crawlin, limpin, says nothin, somebody say SOMETHIN!!!! :lol Completely forgot Chastain was in that, and they made her look so trashy. :lol Such a unique movie. But not sure what the purpose of silence was. The elevator stomp tho...... :eek

Speaking of trashy, Kristen Stewart, playin hurt, limps out to present with her fancy dress, give her credit, and then she turns, facing the mic, left arm exposed.....big *** bruise on her arm. :rollin I mean, has to be 20 million worth of makeup artists out there, nobody could rub some rouge or somethin on that for her? I swear I thought her dress was a tearaway or something, if she woulda pulled a Coors Light out from her clevage I would have perished right then and there. :lol She needs to play Tonya Harding in a movie. Has to happen, I demand it.
