Oh I'm sorry, Did I Break Your Conversation........Well Allow Me A Movie Thread by S&T

Unrelated to the draft, but I'm finally watching Ghosts of Flatbush, a documentary about the Dodgers and the events of their move from Brooklyn, it's terrific.

I've had it on my computer for months, just always forget to watch it.

Should people specify what position they're taking the movie for? For instance, Pulp Fiction...crime or drama?

Yes, please do this.  However, you are not locked into it, as you can move it later since we have utility picks.  For my initial entry into the first post  (which I will be setting up in about an hour or so) it will help me slot people.  Then as we get to picks 6-7-8 I can move around as told to do so.

Yes, 90's ONLY.

Pulp, great first pick.

Maybe we could get some Mel Kiper breakdowns from some people.

yes I think so

make things easier. I guess you could always switch if necessary at the end but people should agree on the genre

According to CP1708, we pick whatever movie we want. That's why I was a little confused about the genre's being listed, because technically they shouldn't matter if you can pick who you want.
But if people have to choose a film based on the genre of my first film, it would be crime, IMO.

Taking Pulp Fiction is like selecting a 7 foot big man who can defend, has good footwork in the post, and can hit a jump shot.

You have to take it, there might be some better choices... but you take the big man anyway.

so how do we rate who has the best movies? we just get everyone who isn't involved to judge at the end?

I trust those who participated to be able to be impartial enough to vote. As long as you don't rank yourself, I don't have a problem ranking other peoples choices.

You can select genres in whatever order you want. It's basically like selecting a fantasy football or basketball team...you just have to fill certain positions in whatever order you see fit. With movies usually fitting into a couple of different genres, you'll be able to go back and switch around movies. So say you put Pulp Fiction as a "Crime" movie for now...in a later round if you select, say, Internal Affairs as your new "Crime" movie, you can move Pulp Fiction to "Drama" or one of the two "Utility" slots. Or at least that's how I understood it.
Saying what genre you're picking the movie for just helps to smooth things out and makes everything a little easier to organize.

I'll try to keep an Excel file with the order of movies picked and the rosters selected.

So eloquently put.
So if I understand correctly, once I've selected a "crime" film, I can't pick another one correct?
