Olympic athlete banned from participating because of racist joke on Twitter

There definitely needed to be repercussions, although I'm not sure if a ban should have been implemented. Olympians work extremely hard all for little financial stability. They make sacrifices in work, school, and their personal lives in order to follow their dreams. Her comment pissed me off (I'm black btw), but I don't know about banning her. I just think there could be something almost as severe, without taking away her opportunity. ****, take her stipend away but still offer her her spot. I don't know.

THOROUGHBRED, those legs :x :evil. yea im black and this had me :rollin. OD racist tho. aint eem mad at that ban. neo nazi tho? :{ ol blonde haired blue eyed....

It goes back to the old notion of the whiter you are the better. What I mean by this is that back during feudalism and what not, nobles stayed in their manors to stay as pale as possible because tans (which you got from working in the sun all day) were a sign of poverty. Its is a reason that some Asians look down on Southeastern Asians (ever notice that they are darker in color compared to Koreans/Chinese/Japanese). Add to that the media portrayal of Blacks and you have what you have to today.
preciate that, famb... i never really understood it...

lol at being banned for a twitter comment. Meanwhile half the athletes competing are using performance enhancers.

The Olympics are a joke.

my thing is (and I'm black too) what does being black have to do with your feelings about the comments? She made them towards Africans, and if you had the ability to look at it from their perspective (and from that of the athletes who would have to compete against her) im sure they would want her banned

as a representative of her nation she should be more cognizant of her words in the public sphere.. it's a hard lesson she's learned.

banned completely was a little excessive imo
People are gonna hate other people, no getting around it.
I could see getting suspended for a game or 2 being a little more appropriate
So you think a setting where thousands of athletes of different cultural backgrounds (some of which were at war with each other) is appropriate for Xenophobic remarks?
Especially a place right wing as Greece? Who openly have NEO-NAZI government affiliations?

"...thats the way...I like to ****"

THE MORE I RUN ACROSS THIS PIC, THE MORE I WANNA SAY SHE COULD GET IT, SHE LOOK LIKE SHE **** GOOD AS HELL

:eek wow
iman tho :o

Yeah i had that face when she got hit. but watch the tail end of the video she commends him on his patriotism and he smacked her twice.

The Olympics are a joke.
Performance enhancers don't rage wars or promote xenophobia, discrimination, nationalism, communism, or racial and ethnic injustice.
