you'd be surprised how easy is to make carbon fiber the "cheap" way. they are just a roll of carbon fiber weave sheets, you cut them to what you want put them in the vacuum mold cure with resin and TADA!! there's your typical cheap "carbon fiber". most of these "carbon fiber" are just cheap carbon fiber sheets with resin wet layed over a mold and cured. the cheap method is typically known as the wet carbon fiber method. The real strong carbon fiber cost thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dollar per roll and require specific type of resin as well cooking them in the oven to allow the resin to cure.
the Jordans with CF shank plate etc up until the 2012 all used the cheaper method to create the CF shank plate. the lebron x elite, 9 elite, kobe 8 elite, the kd V elite, jordan xx8, hyperdunk elite (2011?), the kobe 9 elite; now these had the REAL light weight carbon fiber that uses the more expensive method.
anyway, did Nike ever called them carbon fiber plates? i remember they always had refer them to as just the carbon shank plate which is made out of graphite.
