where should i get the knowledge, what language, C, C+, C++?
i just got Visual Studio, I guess i'm ready.

C+ ? Didn't even know that existed

All my classes were in C++. Learn OOP. Then, all languages are (pretty much) the same (i did say pretty much).
Also, what do you want to program for? Software? Web? is it to find a job or just for fun?
c'mon ebpo, cut me some slack

guess i meant to put C#
I'll read up on OOP and check back in.

Hahaha, I honestly didn't thought of C# lol, my bad.

OOP isn't a language, but a way to create your algorithms, it's a little more complex, but it's all worth it

Man just take your book, plant yourself in front of a simple text editor, and learn that way. You won't be able to fully utilize a program like Matlab with a novice understanding of programming, and to be honest you'll be a lot better off in the long run by learning how to make changes to programs with the most basic of software.

I would also suggest learning Java, as that seems to be more popular to me (with the whole Java and cloud thing going on in the Android and Computer world.) OOP is the new wave, and you should definitely look into learning both languages if you think you can. I'd simply suggest Java because thats what I'm used to and I see that being used a lot more often.

Wait OOP isn't just a new wave. And did I missunderstand or are you saying that it's a language. Java is object oriented (don't you import classes at the beginning of your files?) therefore, it's OOP

I can't post my idea, but matlab seems like it will do the job...I'm going to show my cousin n law the program, shes a math teacher, and i'll tell her what i want the numbers to do.

I'm working with permutations dammit

I meant as far as cloud programming goes, which a lot of is based on Java. And yeah, I meant learning both C and Java could come in handy, not that Object Oriented Programming/Design is a language.

This is pretty bad since I'm not that great at this, but throw this into visual studios and it should do the addition/subtraction you want.

#include<iostream>

using namespace std;

int main()

{

int choice;

double num1,num2,sum, sub;

cout<<"1.Addition2.Subtraction";

cin>>choice;

if (choice==1)

{

cout<<"First number: ";

cin>>num1;

cout<<"Second number: ";

cin>>num2;

sum=num1+num2;

cout<<sum<<endl;

}

else if (choice==2)

{

cout<<"First number: ";

cin>>num1;

cout<<"Second number: ";

cin>>num2;

sub=num1-num2;

cout<<sub<<endl;

}

system("pause");

return 0;

}
