Places to go in Madison,Wisconsin??

Hey NTers! i hope i'm in the right region..anyway, my friend is in Madison right now and she went there(from LA) to just escort her bf who has aninterview.
i'm from SF/LA and do not know anything what's out there. of course, i looked up some stuff on the net, but I want to hear the locals voice, such asplaces to eat thats reasonable and good, places to shop and have coffee.

I know as far as places to shop theres a shop called Cook. Ask for a dude named Matty...tell em that Vince sent ya! my guy says that theres another spot calledContext that has a similar feel to Self-Edge. Another spot called Alumni....of course chicago is only an hour and a half away.....

Did Cook move? I stopped by a couple of weeks ago and the place downtown was empty.

Aithalis - Don't know if you're still in Mad town or not. If you're by the capital head northeast towards Johnson and Paterson. You'll find thenew Cook location, tell Logan Lester sent you (LRG, greedy genius, CrooksNCastles, etc). Across the street is Drunken Butterfly (nice clean joint, cool cats,Quick strike account with Nike, Reebok, and some others).

Shop and Eat - Head down State St from the capital. you'll find lots of mom and pop boutiques (nothing real hip hop gear but you never know sometimes) anddecent foods.

Entertainment - I'd say State St for bars (no clubs in Madison), but be prepared for last calls at 130am. There's East Town Mall not too far fromDowntown either.



If you really want a good time drive the 2 hrs to Chicago. There's no place like home IMO.
