Playground BBall habits.

That angry, ball hoggin dude who always shoots but nobody will say anything to him.

The overzealous dude who flys out of nowhere for a rebound he clearly had no chance at gettin.

Mr. High School Glory days.

Dudes that's out there just to have fun

I used to play with this one Indian guy who was pure garbage at almost every aspect of offense: He had suspect handles, terrible shooting form and was a poor shooter, and all of his passes were off target or way too hard. I remember the first time I met him he was warming up on the other side, this dude warmed up for 10 minutes and probably made 5 jumpers AT MOST.

Game starts, he checks the ball and proceeds to drive out of control Wade style and throw up a shot over his shoulder without even looking and banks it in. Next possession he pulls up and swishes a 3. Then dribbles through like 3 guys in the lane and loses control of the ball as he falls out of bounds, but it bounces to his teammate who's open for a jumpshot and he drains it.

Every time I played this guy he had the ugliest game ever and yet technically I guess you could say he was a good player. I'm talking he'd shoot a pretty good percentage, but his shots would either airball by 2 feet, completely miss the rim, or he'd hit nothing but net

Like I'm not a great outside shooter, but all my shots are gonna hit the rim and be in a consistent range even when I miss. This guy either misses by 2 feet or drains it. Every time I'd shoot around with him almost nothing would go in, but once the game started he'd catch fire.

Pissed me off to the Nth degree because he was terrible and yet he often torched us.
I know he wasn't hustling us either because his form and technique were bad enough that you could tell he just wasn't very good.

I hate those "player/coach" type dudes...they want to assign defensive matchups before game, shout out offensive directions and mid game adjustments, etc
laugh.gif

They don't realize that it's pickup ball and no one is listening to them. Shut up and play ball son

People who don't know basketball. Yes, I know, it sounds stupid, but you'd be surprised how many guys go out there pretending to be Kobe. My short list:

- Call out screens
- Either switch on screens or at least step out, no they just let their guy BLINDSIDE you, then they watch your guy drive for a layup
- know how to play actual defense. If the ball is at the top and your guy is in the corner, you don't need to be a foot away from him, you should be sagging toward the lane
- ISOLATION OFFENSE IS THE WORST PART OF PICK UP BASKETBALL
- Big men shooting infinite amounts of 3's
- Guys who don't cut, set screens, rotate, or move at all without the ball. Everyone just stands outside the 3 waiting for their man to get lazy enough for them to shoot.

Grow a pair.
That's some real bull $%+*. When people wrap me up in that situation, I just fake like I'm gonna call it and then go up when they get off me.

I'm 6'5" and a lot of the time when I get an offensive rebound and go up for the putback defenders will go into intentional foul mode, knowing that free throws don't exist in pick up ball and it's just gonna be up top. That's completely bogus and no one ever says anything about it because if you have a height advantage on the court it's like there's this supposed perception that you should be grateful for even having that advantage in the first place.
No we don't need to play shirts/skins. Not to sound homophobic but if the guy I'm guarding is shirtless and particularly disgusting that WILL factor into how I play defense on him.

Can't believe no one's mentioned the guy on the other team who'll try to trick you into passing him the ball either on an inbounds or in the backcourt. Have some dignity, chump. And by the way, has this guy ever been taller than 5'8" or even been remotely good? Has this guy ever not had an irrational amount of confidence?

Weight room guy who never plays and thinks elbowing his way to the rim is basketball. I get it. You're really strong. You've tricked yourself into thinking that because you're 5'11" 210 that should be able to translate into any sort of athletic competition, even ones that demand a large amount of hand-eye coordination. But you have have zero lateral movement, have trouble getting down the court and also have trouble lifting your arms over your head. And put a shirt on, please. I don't see any females in the vicinity and the perception is that you're trying to present yourself to a dozen other dudes. Thanks.

in half court that is absolutely ******ed. in a full court game i could see that happening, i dont like zone but if my team wants zone then i'll go along with it.
