on lunch i was trying to destroy a gym next to my work and everytime it would say "go" it would error out to the previous screen before i could battle.

that's the thing, Niantic just admitted that they've been filing false api with Google maps, I doubt that denying was anywhere near you.

It actually was 2 blocks north of me, but by the time I got there it despawned. The app stopped letting me move my map to try to catch the Dewgong, so I ended up having to restart the app after the Dewgong disappeared.
