California Bill to Amend 2018 Exhaust Noise Law Passes Legislature
Thanks to the efforts of Assembly Members Tim Grayson, Tasha Boerner-Horvath, Phil Ting, Phil Chen, Senator Holly Mitchell, and enthusiasts throughout California, state lawmakers have approved SEMA-supported legislation (SB 112) that restores “fix-it” tickets for cars suspected of violating the state’s exhaust noise limit.

Once signed into law by California Governor Gavin Newsom, SB 112 will take effect immediately.

SB 112, a budget implementation (trailer) bill, includes text drawn from SEMA-sponsored AB 390, which was authored by Assembly Members Grayson and Jim Frazier in early 2019. Under normal legislative procedure, AB 390 would not have been implemented until January 2020.

“SEMA thanks Assembly Members Grayson, Boerner-Horvath, Ting, and Chen, and Senator Mitchell for their tireless work on behalf of the over 1,700 member companies based in the Golden State,” said Daniel Ingber, SEMA’s vice president for legal and government affairs. “Thanks to their efforts, enthusiasts in California will continue to be afforded due process under the law.”

SB 112 removes cars from the impact of AB 1824, which was signed into in June of 2018. AB 1824 amended how California law enforcement officials issued citations for suspected exhaust noise violations by eliminating the ability to issue fix-it tickets, which allowed for 30-days to correct a violation. Instead, motorists received an immediate fine. Once signed into law by Gov. Newsom, SB 112 will again allow law enforcement to issue fix-it tickets.

I need help buying my 1st SUV. Eyes are set on a used/CPO Benz or X5 but looking to stay at 30k max..preferably high 20s. CPO is the way to go from what I’m hearing, but should non CPO completely ruled out?

Nah my strat for identifying good used is maintenance history and a little backstory Detective work. If you find a 1 owner used luxury car with detailed dealer maintenance history, no sport options, and it was traded into a Hyundai dealership. Chances are it wasn't driven very hard. Also above average mileage (not necessarily high mileage, let's say we're look at something only 3 years old) implies that those are highway miles and not city miles. Exactly what you want

CPO is just marketing BS to give you a false sense of security . They don't really inspect it. Just the bare minimum and put it on the lot to sell.

People buy CPO for the warranty, not the inspection.

Yes, for most people, if you're buying used, it's better to stay away from non CPO vehicles. And don't take this the wrong way, but if your budget is 30K, you should look at one of the american SUVs. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck, and they'll be cheaper to maintain after the warranty period.
 
The 5.7 is a truck engine for boat cars

The 6.4 is a go fast engine for boat cars (and hopefully soon trucks )

The thing is numbers wise it's not that much of a difference tbh

Put a pedal commander, intake, exhaust aluminum flywheel and 1 or 2 other mods and itll essentially be a 6.4 for much less money year over year
5.7 can handle boost
6.4 not so much
and theres a BIG power difference with 5.7 and 6.4
not to mention 5.7 has a speed limiter on it :lol
