is 19,500 milage on an 05 Yamaha FZ6 a good amount or too much?

theres a guy in my area selling one for $2500. description says gas tank is a bit dented and the fairing has a small crack (hence the price) but runs well.

this would be my first bike and a perfect price range. just not too sure.

^i'm not sure what's considered high mileage on a bike, but i've seen bikes being sold that had more than that.

couldn't sleep last night so i went riding for about a half hour by myself a little after midnight. first time i got on the bike in like almost 3 weeks. felt good and glad i was able to take advantage of the nice weather we've been having this week. i was considering selling my bike after the winter if my friend sold his, but after riding last night, i'm definitely not going to go that route anymore. i'm just going to save up some money on the side and buy a daily driver by spring.

do you guys pay insurance during periods when you aren't really riding i.e. winter time? im hoping to pick up a bike tomorrow but its getting colder up here so wont be touching it much so not sure.

my area is safer but pitch black at night and there have been thefts/break ins in the not so distant past. better to be safe then sorry?

*i dont have a garage to put in either only a car port

Just pay the FULL COVERAGE insurance all year around.  Better safe than sorry champ.  You would be kicking yourself for quite some time if your bike got stolen and you didn't have full coverage.  Trying to save a few dollars in the next few months could end up costing you more money in the long run in having to find a new bike or knowing that you threw away money on a bike that you no longer have.

My house has a garage and I STILL keep my full coverage on my bike all year round.  Anything can happen at any time.

Helmet came in. I paid $50 on ebay i kind of couldn't pass it up.

Fits tight hopefully it loosens up over time.

My baby that is currently down for repairs (had a lowside accident, went out riding with a crazy mofo that I knew I shouldn't have gone out riding with)
2005 SV650 w/ 24k miles on the clock. First bike ever, lookin to upgrade to a Street Triple R next year. I don't think I'll ever be converted to a super sport.

I can't wait to get back on the old girl, I miss her so much. I miss the sound & vibrations of that twin and its monster engine braking

just got the same bike, except an 06. 8k miles (mostly city miles, guy used it to get around DC) for $2700. first bike.

got it from a guy leaving for Egypt and needed to dump it asap. after market handle bars and exhaust (which i think is hideous, want a delkevic short pipe), and rear fender delete.

I've always wanted one but I've had to many close people get hurt and die from these things

Rear ended at a red light.

Driver was just not paying attention.

Finally got my boo cakes back. Almost a salvage but no cigar.
Still happy to have her back. All the damage was rear end and sub frame.

I think it almost rides the same. Not sure yet. I def deal rusty Ridin and with my back injury I'm not there all the way yet but I'm still gonna get it. Already hit the el campo route near the Mexican border (San Diego).

came here to show nt the stands I made.

used some gas pipe that I picked up at my local hardware store as

well as the wheels and the flat stock that i used for the angled brace

just finished this one, I gotta still take it to work and sandblast it and paint it

finished this one a week or so ago, sandblasted and painted for a finished rear stand

sorry for the wrong angle on this picture but its about 1 inch off the ground

and here she is stored for her first Wisconsin winter

about how much is full coverage??

there are some variables like your age, traffic history, year make and model of bike, and if you've completed a safety course or not. For example, I am 27 with an 07 600rr with a speeding ticket or 2 and for year round full coverage I pay about $58/mo. No matter what, I would go with progressive for motorcycle insurance. they have the lowest rates by far from my experience.

most def. getting rid of my 05 GSX-R600 either march or April and eyeing a Honda CBR1000cc!!.. but the 04-07 body, tho

I'm a big newbie when it comes to bikes. I plan on doing a lot of research over winter break, and hopefully I can save up enough to get one by this summer, but all I really know is I want a modern classic bike (I dont know what they call these, but these were the bikes common in the 50-80's)

Here's an example of what kind of bike I want to get. Triumph thruxton
