Holy Grail status time. Missed on a sports specialities all aqua Marlins, and 2-3 7 3/4s over the past 5-6 years. But beyond that, it's been a graveyard. Not anymore. Spotted one and scooped it up

1993 era Florida Marlins new era on field. Been on the hunt for so long. I'll post up some comparison shots this weekend. I have opted for many different customs over the years. I always wanted the real deal. Gratifying. The color is vibrant and unique as hell. I love it.

Main key points compared to customs. No white outline on the marlin. The logo is off set to be 100% balanced vs. the F being balanced. And the logo itself is a flat logo. Many retro interpretations have it wrong

Do these fit any different bc of their age? This is exactly what I was looking for, used to have a snapback when I was a kid from opening day 93

believe it or not, the 87-96 era of caps tend to fit true to size. No real shrinking. If anything, the band feels softer and stretchier. Now the crown is a different story. Many from that era have this pointier trucker hat look. It's unique but doesn't always look right compared to the 96-current rounded Fuller crown. 97-current era have bands that are tighter. You need that perfect size. And that era of wool caps shrunk with age and wear. But the earlier era, I've been set buying my regular size.

The original just shines in bright lights. Here the original is on the left , with the 2018 on the far right.

Totally unique shade of aqua used for the original. It appears impossible for them to match perfectly. The two customs in the middle seem to have a weird muted aqua look. Almost like their void of any saturation. And your 2018 seems like it's simply too blue.

And here are two originals side by side that new era refused to get right.

I believe the retro classics used the same shade of aqua/blue (which is very close to the 2018 on field). They're not even in the same realm of the color wheel. Laziness.

Could be that they simply don't have an original in the archive to get it spot on.

Never really paid attention to the off center F, but now that you've pointed it out the original placement does look a lot better to me.

The original marlin was perfectly center from tail to nose. The newish marlin was mainly center weighted taking the average mass of the body of the marlin and the F as the main focal point. The change happened late 90s/early 2000s. By 2001, the F was centered onto the middle crown seam. I have no true preference.

Colors have always been an issue. They still haven't gotten the 94 mariners PNW green correct. New era literally used the same aqua on the marlins retro classic and the mariners retro classic. That's why I brought it up. They are vastly different colors.

Top right is forest green, but hard to tell in the picture. Bottom Yankee is a pink brim, Dodgers is a green.

June 8th 2018, or that weekend of, they wore the whole jersey cap combo. Their batting helmets were black with the old F

There was a tad bit of controversy as many runs appeared lighter in color than others.

They really pulled together whatever they could find to make these caps.

A year later in 2019, in late July, they did the black cap and vest combo.

Now HC had a slew of customs like this one

It's the two tone with a stitched side patch, along with the one I posted up that's the 93 marlin inaugural season stitched side patch

Depending on how much you really want one,
I’d say you have two main options. Macy’s still has retro classics. 7 is available. 7 1/8 is not. But they’ve fit big To tts from I’ve seen. Second option is mickeys place

both above are near that of what mickeys place has as far as customs go. Other than the originals from 93, there isn’t much out there

Older era caps defnitely fit weird. I’ve been lucky with some wahoos that have had strong brims. But many others almost feel soggy.
