There was some whole bs about Goku coming to Earth and evil enemies would just keep coming to fight him so it'd be better off if he stayed dead.
I'm not even saying Gohan got more character development I'm just saying Goku didn't even really learn that lesson that you gotta kill your enemies. How many eps it took him to kill Freeza!!! Son spent what must've been hours on a dying planet trying to spare dudes life so he could power up and come back for revenge
As far as I see it character wise, Goku was just a talking Brolly. There to fight and get more powers with every new opponent.

He was never a great kid though but nice try. Son was steady traveling the world looking for fights, playing around, eating, and training.

Nah. My parent's worked 9-5 and I had to be at school by 8. I ate cereal or oatmeal/bacon mon-friday and had the full breakfast spread sat/sun.
If your parents were making full breakfast every morning, they wasn't getting that $$$.

My parent's ain't have no time to make pancakes every morning. They had to get to the $$$.

My mom always found ways to make breakfast for us most days out of the week and she had to be at work same time we had to be at school. Same for when my dad had a day off.
Plus I didn't mind making my own and there was stuff to buy on the way to school. Never once ate cereal.
