Order online through Amazon or Jomashop. Avoid ordering Tissot on eBay tons of fakes.

Seagull 60th anniversary skeleton watch

:pimp: thanks dude this one is pretty nice.

If you ever see the model I wanted that is sold out available please drop me a line.

The reason I asked as far as ordering, is that I wanted to know if there was any way to bargain with these watch places....but I don't think torneu(sp?) in the city would be willing to bargain since their such a big name watch store....

M171s is available, I was able to add it to the cart, you can't buy any seagulls in store unless you are in HK. You won't get any discounts at Tourneau for the hammys and tissot not enough margin on those watches, better to buy online.

damn braj's I need some help...like I posted above I'm in the market for a nice brown strap rose gold/gold watch to wear to meetings. I'm stuck between a couple choices for under $500. But before I get to that do you guys think going to an actual watch store...i'll be in nyc btw, would fare better than picking it up online?

Here's my tentative picks:

Tissot prc200
1000

hamilton jazzmaster
1000
tissot le locle anniversary edition
1000

tissot visodate (thanks Jy)
1000

decisions decisions....

Jyabbz, I checked out seagull...friggin watch is sold out and I would have def went in on this one....

1000

Either the Le Locle or Visodate.

Maybe it's the angle but that looks way too big for your wrist.

That's what I thought, how big are your wrists? Those lugs are extra long plus the size of the face doesn't help, looks like a 44/5mm beast on a 6.5" wrist

Ksteezy needs help guys.

Appreciated

So I want a gold watch, something similar to a Day-Date 36mm yellow gold, but obviously not in that price range....stay within a grand....I've seen some cool gold plated Michael Khors, is there any other brand that carries similar watches, decent quality?

Is more for a gift idea for my wife, she might want to get me a watch.

Already answered it, the watch is about 40.5 and it is definitely the angle. The watch doesn't look tiny on my wrist but it doesn't look like a Jacobs either.
Better perspective below.

Find some legit "grey market" sites. I've purchased from them with no issues.

authenticwatches.com

jomashop.com

I'm sure there are a few more out there.

Stick with companies that make watches as their bread and butter. Check out Orient or Seiko, I think they might have gold plated day-date watches. Shouldn't cost more than $500, maybe around $200. Michael Khors watches

, I think they are made by Fossil too, up charge on the name only with that $10 quartz movement

this is my first time in the watch thread, so don't laugh me out of here...but i too am looking for a cheap alternative to a gold rolex aka "poormans rolex" (for lack of a better phrase)....of course some peeps are saying to buy a fake one, but fake is not an option. my pockets aren't too deep and i'm not up watch brands. i checked out your amazon links and the orient and seiko watches look good...but also came across august steiner. what about that brand? do they suck? retail price $300ish but sold for $60? any help is appreciated

Never heard of them and I heard of most if not all of the affordable brands. Post a pic of the watch you want and I will get back to you when I have time. Post your budget also and note any gold at the sub $1000, will most likely be gold tone. FYI, don't buy fakes.

Bros, any thoughts on this watch?... About 950$ worth the price?...anything similar ya might recommend?

Mido is a good Swiss brand but with that price I would go with a Hamilton at least it has some US roots. Check out the Bulova Claremont, looks similar and should be under $200 online.

thanks for the reply jyabbz....these are the watches i was asking about. i saw them on gilt too. they retail for $375 on their site but i also see for $70/$80

...as for a budget, roughly $1000 would be my max.

I would recommend getting a seiko 5 = automatic, in-house movement, cheap, and better quality compared to fashion brands of the same price tag. Don't spend ore than $200 on your first watch and save the rest of your cash when you know what watch you exactly want. I listed some watches that are similar to the date-just you posted, along with some other recommendations.

good looking! i'll look into these brands....i'm not up on my watch terminology....what do you mean by "automatic,in house movement"?

Automatic = no battery needed, just movement of your own wrists. In-house movement = movement was made by the company of the watch.
