Question about retriving UNKNOWN/RESTRICTED numbers

someone has been calling a family member of mine and threatening to kill them and every time its been a unknown/restricted number
so my question is.. how is one able to get those numbers?
my family member has AT&T if it matters

Record it, give it to the police, and they'll retrieve it.

Call AT&T and see if they can hook it up. If they call a lot, you might even need to get the police involved. They can probably do something about it, evenif they say they cant.

so does anyone think that getting a detective involved with this would get at&t to cooperate with the process?
and another question is the process of getting an UNKNOWN number even possible?
