Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Naw dude wasn’t that good. It was all swag, style, and the dipset era that propelled him. Go back and just let his tapes play through, nothing but a bunch of random incoherent verses. dude isn’t a good rapper and doesn’t make sense half the time. He was as big as he was gon get.
u aint gon sit here and tell me
"Today's a new day, got the boo-lay up in the suitcase
Go uptown to Harlem, tell 'em that I sent ya
Tell 'em it's August, I'm gone til' November

I need a couple birds, get a broad, have 'em sent up (of course)
Call my bird, get my broad have her sent up (please)
Call my ******, call my squad, have 'em sent up (please)
"
these aint bars

I remember the title of this album being a big *** deal. People were in their feelings.

Yeah A LOT of rappers in the south felt like that **** was a slap in the face lol, they kinda took at it as dudes being mad because their brand of hip hop wasn’t the focus of the commercial market anymore. Luda was wearing those “hip hop ain’t dead it moved to the south” shirts, etc

There was a lot of silly throwaway rap being made then but you could at least look at a lot these _'s and say "aight these _'s from the dirt and represent a portion of the culture that this **** was built on", music might not be what you wanna hear but this is their culture too. 10+ years later this **** has been infiltrated by a whole different brand of people

For real for real other than work ethic it ain't much of a difference between Wayne and Santana as far as ability.

Very interesting, as besides the last sentence, this 100% describes another rapper that y’all been claiming is a goat, yet took years later to realize he was never that good in the first place. Hmph

Nobody thought Juelz was top tier. He should've been a commercial star tho. That was the expectation. He was never barring ****** up like Cassidy or anything. He just had the potential and star power.

cassidy trash
but appreciate him
for freeway needing a beat to throw on
and his second album
which was gave us 6 minutes

Juelz sucks and always did suck. That dipset era had dudes blinded thinking this dude was really a top tier rapper. It was all swag and affiliation.

To this day and going forward, I'll always say that Wayne ate his food all over the Can't Feel My Face Mixtape. Like dude honestly wasn't even needed. I had some joints that went, though. I can't say he was completely terrible.
