Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I've seen prior to any of this Complex **** give credit to Jeezy, Tip, 2 Chainz, Future, Thug, Ross on his own platform. So i'm not understanding where that comment came from. the show is very east coast centric because that's where they grew up naturally you have a little bias.

As far as Joe goes he comes off dismissive to most artist who's music he doesn't like, that's not centered around the south. Just so happens that most of these ****** they discuss happen to be from the south.

My question to ya'll is when Joe doesn't like an artist music how else would you expect him to go about it outside of dismissive? because if he thinks the music is trash the only other thing left to discuss is the antics & persona a lot of these dudes have. And if he keeps it a buck he's being bitter & pickin on the youngins. Everyone doesn't deserve in depth analysis :lol

It's a hub for the gay community, sure. But to say the place is predominantly gay is a reach. In all honesty, I don't even notice an overwhelming presence unless I'm over by midtown. Perhaps it's the places I frequent, or perhaps I've just grown so accustomed to their being around that they begin to blend in, but I don't seem them out like that.
yeah, you might've just got used to it....im not surprised anymore either. Going to the supermarket and walmart is like going to lenox....matter of fact i went to south dekalb the other day and thought i was in lenox...that **** shocked the hell out of me

****** only point out biases when it's directed from the "East Coast".

When it's coming from another region...it's ignored. Word to all you ****** that were undergoing mental gymnastics trying to explain why Jay Z  and any other "northern artists" didn't have influence in the south..

was pac lyrical

I wouldn't call him a GREAT lyricist, but yes the dude was lyrical. he had aim in his music, he told stories, he aimed to spark convo & thought with his words. I think his aim when making a song was for the Lyrics to touch you.

It's perfectly fine if dude doesn't like the music. We all agree that it's subjective. But take someone like Future. Joe never seems to miss an opportunity to diminish the guy's presence in rap. From the segments on his podcast, to his spiels on ES. And, again, of you don't like someone's music that's cool. But Joe makes it a point to proclaim how much he "lovvvvves ____," and then subtly **** on them almost in the same breath. Same as it was with Migos.

I can't prove it, so take my speculation for what it's worth, but often times I think he gives reverence to those guys you mentioned because it's expected of him. For example: Today they discuss great intros, he makes no mention of Ross. Yet he's said a few times that Ross dropped one of his favorite projects of the year. Could I be reading too much into it? Possibly. But there are inaccuracies in what dude says from time to time that are conveniently chalked up to "bad memory".

:lol I live about 5 mins from South Dekalb. I definitely never notice them there.

But then again I normally go to that place on weekdays. I'd imagine it's probably more apparent on weekends.

wait til next episode because they have time to think of who they left off along with the viewer comments

Yeah, that's what I expect. That one is hard to do off top and Ambitionz is one of the greatest songs ever and Joe is a huge Pac fan.

Oh he def has several inaccuracies when discussing topics but i think that's just him trying to win whatever debate, i don't think it's necessarily focused on the south. I feel like he keeps that attitude with artist from everywhere. I mean we're talking about the same guy who has notoriously bigged up Drake's music & artistry (And still does to this very day) but also DESTROYED Views & released three diss tracks against him. Joe is extreme at times but he's able to see both sides of an argument. Just because you talk down on one aspect of a person doesn't mean you don't **** with them at all.

Like in future's case i've heard him on his podcast say he loved DS2, March Madness was a great song etc etc... On the show the only things i remember that could be seen ******** on Future was

1) when he says future makes high quality, low quality music. out of context that looks disrespectful, in context and with the explanation he gave it wasn't. He basically saying Future makes smash records and is at the top of the game in that aspect, however futures projects aren't heavily content filled & aren't made for the fans to think and look for introspection. Which is true for about 70% of future catalog.

2) He claimed Future isn't a superstar. We already had that discussion in here, Me & a few others agreed with Joe & a few others didn't. That should atleast attest to the point that it was a debatable question at the very least. So i can't say he's ******** on him.

Joe has a horrible way of wording things but i honestly don't think he means to be malicious on a good percentage of the things he says.

Okay that I can agree with. He's the same way with cats from out west and other areas, so I see your point.

That "look at Migos" and "Atlanta is majority homosexual" stuff certainly falls into that other 30% of **** he says just to be a malicious prick, though.

I agree with Budden. There's a difference between an intro and the first song.

Bomb First is an intro

Intro and first song on the album are different IMO. The intro has maybe an interlude, some talking and is usually short or just a verse. This isn't the criteria for it but I feel like you can hear the difference in an intro and the leadoff track. Beanie's The Truth is track 1 but I don't think of that as an intro.

Few dope intros that haven't been mentioned.

Cassidy - The Problem vs The Hustler
Joe Budden - Joe Budden Intro
Trick Daddy - Based on a True Story
Bun B - The Inauguration
NaS - Queens Get the Money
Cam'ron - Come Home With Me Intro
DMX - My N's
Three 6 Mafia - They Bout to Find Yo Body
Jay-Z - Hova Intro (Vol.3)
Kendrick Lamar - Wesley's Theory
50 Cent - The Invitation
