Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Nobody wants Akademics up there talking with no one to light fire under his *** when he's being a YOUNG DUMB *****.

I feel like the show is kinda boring without Joe. The Action episode was decent, but who wants to watch three people agree for an hour on a debate show?

They don't debate s***. I watch to hear about opinions on whats going on in hip hop, not to see Joe ramble on about nonsense. Not to say AK doesn't say stupid s***, but Joe is almost unbearable. The episode with Ferg is easily a top 3 episode.

So the Rich Homie Quan and 21 Savage episodes weren't good?

Joe is a lot more logical and makes more sense than Ak. Why do you want to see what Ak is going to say? All he's going to do is say what the kids do and believe.

I think Joe's delivery is just throwing y'all off.

He provides a lot of balance to the show. Without Joe, I can't imagine what it is Ak and Nedeska would talk about. He's provides a lot of perspective of someone who has been in the game for decades, and he isn't afraid to be honest about getting punched in the face or his place in Hip Hop. You have to appreciate that.

I didn't say there weren't good episodes with Joe being there. The artist propelled those episodes themselves because they were active. And nah, they both make the same amount of sense to me. They both have faults. Ya'll just only highlight AK's. AK takes a long a*** time to explain something and a lot of the time can never directly answer anything. Joe will explain something to death to the point in which he's not even on the same topic or his whole argument falls apart. And his disinterest in a lot of the artist they talk about messes up a lot of his arguments. Bruh literally went from dissing Slim Jimmy one episode, to being all on his d***.

He provides perspective when he's being serious. That's when he's appreciated. It's just that most of the time, he's acting like a diva. The n**** doesn't even listen to more than half the music they bring up

Couldn't sit through the Bronson episode but today was on point. Definitely reminded me of what and where Cam stands in hip hop history.

joe budden irritates me tho

Anyone else find it weird when Ak says he loves bars. Loves Jay Z, Cam or X but then you see who he champions for every episode. Xxx, Uzi, Future, Kodak and so on. Joe kind of said this before, you can't be a huge fan of both sides and I agree. I don't think every Future song is wack but I don't mess with that sound.

You can't like lyrical rap but also like Uzi and future? Like what? Think about that.

I really can't enjoy jay-z because I enjoy lil Uzi vert. :lol::smh:

No, that's not what I'm saying. You can't be a stan for bars rap and trash rap is what I'm saying. You can't tell me we need more 4:44 and then tell me Future and 21 Savage dropped the best albums this year. Can't play both sides when both sides don't get along.

I love hearing them talk about SDE and Come Home With Me.

This Rap City freestyle got me dying. The clothes, Cam's earrings and the money counting. Still classic.

Diplomatic Immunity had a lot of filler and should have been one disc

Jesus Piece is Game's second best album to me. That album is dumb good.

Nebraska looking washed as ****, fresh out the washer on heavy duty cycle.

Man, this is the episode I've been waiting on from this show. Almost cried when Joe brought up the Jay and Ma$e beef. That **** was classic.

Joe saying if A$AP brings back baggy jeans after I just threw all of mine away was funny as hell.

Hov HIMSELF will tell you Future and 21 Savage are dope....and appreciate what they bring to the game.

Hell, Hov reached out to work with Future a year ago :lol. Cut it out man.

It's not impossible to enjoy many different types of hip hop....and all of them being good music for their own reasons.

I feel the same way about Cam that Nas said. He got lazy with the bars. Cam had potential and then he became Nore. As in he'll say a lot of non-sense among a few good bars.

But Cam ain't top 20 anything and I'm pro Harlem

Man I listen to Jay, Future, Nas, Young Thug, Ice Cube all in the same day. I listen all of 'em for different reasons. The problem with somebody like Ak is he goes overboard with the love and praise of every new weirdo cuz he wants to fit in and gain some of their fans.

This

I would respect his opinion more if he can actually tell me a reason he likes someone. Other than this song is popular, everyone is talking about them or everyone is listening to it.

Most people have an attachment for the music of their youth and still listen to them. I've never even heard him discuss that beyond they were popular.

Honestly I think it's this. Back in the day DJ's broke what was hot. They made you listen to what they were going to play and made you like it. Now DJ's play what is hot and what everyone else is listening too. At least up top. Because they aren't getting the new Atlanta or Memphis record first. That's AK, he likes and plays what everyone else likes and plays. He has that same mindset as far as his personal opinion. Where as another DJ might play it to see the reaction or because the kids want to hear it.

You can be a fan of both. That's just dumb.

I think you can listen to both. But I don't see a balance from kid honestly.

I listen to Public Enemy and MOP, because literally both encompass me, because I recognize nobody is one thing.

What gets more attention? Covering and playing what's bubbling? Or covering who everyone else is already talking about? It's really that simple. That's how popular media works yet ya'll tryna get on him because of covering things that people are talking about? Doesn't really make any sense.

And tbh, if ya'll are being real, me and majority everyone else here don't even follow him to know who he covers.

these dudes are appreciated for the discussion on Cam'ron..... and one of the better points was how much Dipset opened up the landscape for some of the trends in rap today.

thinking about it Cam is one of the few rappers from the 90's (not a top 5 lock) that til this day excites young hiphop fans & gets love from the streets. he's like the exception to the rule of a lot of the young cats.

It makes plenty of sense.

And I'm not talking about what he covers. I'm talking about him having an actual opinion. And not being ****in Mikey and liking everything.

You just lumped Uzi with Kodak when they couldn't be MORE DIFFERENT musically. You guys always tell on yourselves.

AK says that to keep donations poppin on twitch and views coming on youtube, he's no idiot he sees the numbers.

I agrees though you can't like bars, like hardcore bar artist but really only hype up Lil this and that all day on youtube. He literally covers non-lyrical artist all day.
