Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Just listened to Joe's pod & the discussion on who has it easier as far as getting on between new artist & older artist was a really interesting one, because i see both sides.

On one hand there's much less effort & detail going into making records & a lot of your success can be upheld w/o making quality music. On the other end there's a giant concentration of trash a artist must get through

which one was it and around what time

One of my boys told me the new The Black Eyed Peas album was good and I should give it a listen. Told him to never speak to me again.
... halfway through and I like it.

Only listened to 3 songs and that they were pretty good. Based on the collective response, seems like they went back to their hip hop roots and put the corny pop stuff on hold.

If that's the case no wonder i didn't hear about it. They dropped Fergy and did a rebrand

I'm a couple months late but I just listened to REASON's album and ...sheesh :nthat:Joe Budden brought up an interesting topic on his podcast a couple episodes ago.

Has TDE taken any L's yet ? Kendrick and SZA dominated their lanes last year, the Black Panther album, Jay Rock and REASON all were successful. And lyrically, I dont think any other label can touch them.

I'd say the second Isaiah project.

Verse of the year?

Sleepin' on the floor had made my heart colder

They try to make it hard for me, I never fold up

Gotta say I'm good on the ESPY's

I make millions by the day, check my check speed

Tryna take care of my family the best I know how

Bought myself a mansion, now I gotta buy everybody a house

Takin' care of my *****es like the mother of my child

God know imma breath machine, I gotta blow this trial

You don't get no guidance out the trenches to make it out

God know I'll never give up on you, never will

**** gettin' hectic with the ****** that ya kill for

Money got me hesitant, what I got to live for?

All this fame gettin' terrible

All these rings and Berettas

Flawless victory, change the weather

Hurricane, natural disaster

Pour the lean for the bastards

Take the jet across the atlas

God I pray I forgive my dada

'Cause I didn't grow up to be average

All the times he lied to me, ya gave up on my arteries

I was such a worried child, just wanted you to be a part of me

Fishscale profits made a man out me

Sleepin' on the carpet made a man out me

Full of medication, I wouldn't change it

I was once broke but no complainin'

I finally start to embrace that I'm famous

It's hard for me to erase when I was nameless

Ran it up and gave em a sad face :hat

Her glow up was crazy

I remember when she was kinda chubby and wore fake freckles :lol she's fine as hell now. That album really did good for her life.

“All star weekend, I was getting that pack in
Heard you got your sht took, ***** you lackin
Big body Benz, beep-beep when it back in
Real street *****, buying bags with the back end
These *****s ain’t authentic, they acting
And they ain’t getting to the money they cappin
What happened? I thought you was a real one
Solitary stones in my ear, these the clear ones
These diamonds dancing too loud in my ear, I don’t hear them
My - homie got that stick, I got that Glizzy...we don’t fear them
These *****s don’t wanna play with us I swear that we goin kill em”

Isaiah Rashad dropped a good album. “The Sun’s Tirade” was a good album. I played it out in 2016, and I still play it to this day.

If you’ve got a large music pallet, some albums/artists may just slip past you. I’m not an Ab Soul fan but, I know he’s a talented lyricist. His stuff just ain’t for me.

I relate to Zay though
