It seems pretty clear that Casshmeousside shorty is portraying a caricature of what she THINKS ratchett black culture is like.
That doesn't mean she ISNT a lor ratchett chick. But it's pretty clear she's playing "ghetto". I've seen it done plenty of times. Hell, Miley Cyrus did it real cringeworthy.

This is what gave me thought about the billboard list and how artist sales are being boosted, now I'll admit i'm not the biggest R&B fan in the world, and i did hear these CB songs a few times in passing, but you telling me this ***** got three platinum songs off the album already?? it ain't adding up

They count for less. And you aren't getting "exclusives" and "countdowns" on there like they used to. Artist will drop their albums on ITunes, Spotify, etc....then drop them for free on the mixtape circuit after a certain time period.
Gone are the days of Future dropping Monster, Beast Mode and 56 Nights as a LiveMixtapes exclusive. Gone are the days of "sleeper hits" going platinum without charting.
Steaming done changed the game.....and it more accurately reflects an artists standing. March Madness by Future was a platinum hit (no flocking too)....but they charted poorly because they weren't made available for the steaming platforms until way later.
I think everybody is getting the hang of it. A lot of stuff from 2014/2015 could've been bigger if they were on the right platforms....and the rules were understood.

On that Vlad interview...she touched on race/ethnicity for a while...and she isn't Ninjahood but she made it clear she doesn't consider herself black. Not necessarily in a prejudice way but moreso just lack of information.

Which was what I was alluding too. Cashmeoutside ain't Hip-Hop and what not (Idc) but we quick to say Cardi 100% Hip-Hop when she saying she not black, calling dark skinned girls 'burnt roaches'

I just think "hip hop" has a problem with glorifying a ******ed rappers because it's "real" or percieved as real. It's really a joke. But then ppl will cry when said person actually lives the fairy tale scar face life they rapping about. It's wild

She def worked the record in the CLUB circuit....and had mixtapes available for her audience....
But Bodak yellow didn't blow up because of LiveMixtapes or datpiff. Actually, Worldstarhiphop's YouTube channel and Akademiks/Balleralert etc are slowly replacing Livemixtapes and Datpiff.
Again, I'm not arguing that Cardi didn't grind her record. Im arguing that paid streaming is killing freemixgape sites.

"Afro latino" is cuban derived that term in not widely disseminated in da latin world at all outside America English liberal arts studies courses and Cuba.
in Cardi B's case she reps her Dominican side (grew up in my hood Washington heights & da Bronx) and says shes that and 1/2 Trinidad, although she reps da Spanish side more from da ish seen since she was a stripper to now.

da music has to be there and available.
livemixtapes/datpiff is there to drop things a quick without any industry red tape. you only drop on Spotify/tidal/apple when you're already established with proper management and you wanna pace your releases.

ya not understanding what datpiff/livemixtapes do..they don't make anyone"hot" there's hoards of basura rappers on both sites being uploaded hourly.
what these sites do is provide instant "plumbing" and infrastructure to someone who's on da come up but not quite there yet.
you're brand gotta be certified already to holla at da mass streaming apparatuses thats out now.
for da mixtape circuit/club show touring/walk thru/ rappers, datpiff/livemixtapes is invaluable.

That I agree with, in fact I don't even know if that's a debate. Free Mixtape sites have been dead for a long time, and being poppin' and having some sort of viralbility across social media platforms and being a constant on those platforms definitely can cultivate and bring about new stars, for sure.
What I was getting at was that Cardi B's grind isn't nearly as organic as it seems. She was on her grind for sure, but she was clearly signed and being pushed way before Bodak even dropped. Bodak was just the record that actually caught from her.

Those sites DO NOT do that for artists and their fans in 2017. Datpiff / Livemixtapes is virtually worthless now.
