Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

That Wayne story is crazy as hell but we know **** like this happens all the time. Dudes be bragging all day about running trains on girls. That **** has always been strange behavior to me.

After a certain age it shouldn't be cool anymore and you shouldn't want to participate. You can get your own. And peer pressure shouldn't be a factor.

Seen it said before but whay does muting R. Kelly accomplish?

Somebody compile a list of songs he's wrote for others, his own hits, and then his classic album cuts. Aint nobody muting all that.

He not even making the full amount money off of spins cuz he dont own his ****.

IMO it's a personal decision.

Being that his songs are mostly about sex and relationships, and that entails young girls. I haven't listened to that dude for a long time.

Yeah but before I knew about this and I heard one of his songs it was always me thinking about girls I wanted to smash or was smashing. That shouldnt change.

Like there's the rumors about Luther Vandross being gay. Should I stop listening to his songs cuz he's probably singing about dudes? Hell Frank Ocean.

Nah. Makes more senss to apply it to your own life. Kelly being in to teenage girls has no bearing on what In the Kitchen means to me.

Soooo
Dj Clark Kent posted on his ig
That he been silenced r Kelly
And tried to act all high and mighty bout it
Weeeeeellllll

You're comparing being gay to someone preying on girls? When did being gay become a crime?

No.

I'm comparing taking in to account the artists basis for a song and the listeners interpretation of the song.

How was that not clear?

Read over what I said.

My main point being it doesnt matter what an artist's motivation or influence or intent for making a song was just what the song means to you.

To put it as a question if you listen to R&B Thug just cuz R. Kelly is thinking about a 16 yr old when he made it why should you?

I understood perfectly. Your comparison was dumb.

Being gay is accepted in society. Gay people even marry. The only way they're comparable is if you don't find sleeping with underage girls that bad.

To some people it matters, to you it doesn't.

Those who protest too much about how they're not going to give up his music, as if something to be proud of and they're making some sort of stand for a cause is also telling.

It would be better if you said you separate the music from the artist, then try to add some dumb comparisons.

I feel like the point is, I listen to Luther all the time. I've never thought of a man. I listen to R Kelly all the time, I've never thought about a child.

I'd never try to convince someone to listen to R Kelly or support him but nobody is gonna try to guilt or shame me into not listening to him.

Music is my number one love. I wake up and it's the first thing I do, I turn on music. I gotta have music on all the time. R Kelly's music is a huge part of my childhood. I was like 7-8 when my mom was playing 12 Play everyday. I'll never forget that. His second album was getting played like crazy. Those are significant memories in my life and the music is too good for me to give up. I wish I could and I applaud those that can give it up for the right reason. Not to join a movement or to front line and be included in something.

This sequence here, from 1 to 2. ****in insane, beautiful music. Sad and disgusting he singing to Aaliyah but I don't think about Aaliyah or a kid when I hear it.

R. Kelly invented the Remix for real, **** wasn't talked about enough before all the new attention he's been getting.

Mariah rly used to have it man

Listening to his music isn't defending him. I've said mad times he's guilty and is a disgusting person.

Listening to Kanye make you support racism and stupidity?

Listening to Drake make you support black face and flirting with kids?

Negatory

People have said things along the lines of the things you mentioned in regards to those artists except the flirting part.
