Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Going to an HBCU I grew to respect go go, but the pots, pans and garbage can lids wasn't for me initially.

My most miserable time ever was going to a DC party and hearing four hours straight of it.

I like the classic songs they used to play at all the parties

4 HOURS??? FOUR??? See man, that’s overdoing it

Word 4 hours of GoGo sounds nuts.

Only but so many times you can listen to sexy ladies before saying enough is enough.

I dove into some go go music after not knowing what it was a couple years ago and I remember it sounding pretty terrible

Ive learned to love damn near all urban regional flavors of music over the years

Even appreciate some of the House stuff now, especially after learning that we literally created that form of music

Black creativity in general is just amazing bruh :smh: :pimp:

Edit: Kinda why I don’t understand all the aversion to experimentation now :rolleyes. _’s have came up with some crazy **** just out of pure experimentation, pushing into the unknown

Gogo slander def can’t be tolerated, I couldn’t get into at first but it’s an amazing unique style of music to me now. **** blends so many different elements

I remember when I found out Yung Gleesh is Boogie from TOB

Gleesh transition from lead mic to being a hipster-trap pioneer will never not be amazing to me

I watched him pack out a venue w/ 800 white kids and they knew the words to every damn one of his songs

Yeah he def got the evangelists

Crazy to think a lot of the SoundCloud **** literally doesn’t happen without him and his influence, like there’s white kids in middle America running around saying “boof” and “goop” and got no clue what the **** they even talking about  :smh:

It feels like being a originator never plays out like it should. Somebody usually always come behind them (in this case Carti) and benefit way more.

Yams died in the process of tryna put together a label situation for him, Key! and a few other dudes :smh:

Based god :nerd:

I wouldn't say it didn't "work out" for him. He didn't become a "rap star" in a mainstream sense but he reached peak internet fame enough to leave his imprint on pop culture. ***** was cursing athletes and getting them to respond  ***** even had an NBA TV commercial

"shake it and jiggle it, who made that track"

Young Leek was a young ***** from New Jersey who moved to Bmore and got with K Swift. He was terrible.

Fun times back then tho. This is heaven when Club Music & Rap Music mix....:hat :hat

Just stumbled across this video. Back when MTV actually gave a **** :lol. But this the real Baltimore scene. Every weekend. We was at Paradox or Hammerjacks during this time. The best times. RIP K Swift :hat
