Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

About to sit down and listen to this ScHoolboy album but 14 tracks for under 40 mins? Who started this short track trend? First person that caught my attention was 69

Think it really started when cats did away with choruses.

I can think of a few cats who’ve been on that wave for the past four years.

Think of Kodak’s No Flockin. Joint is hard, but only 2 mins and 45 seconds.

Post all his BMs first. Then, post the invoices from all the airlines he used to pay for women to fly out.

Oh, post his magic city and blue flame receipts also. Oh, Pink Pony too.

I’m sure his simp a*** has open tabs at 60% of American strip clubs.

35% if this mans yearly gross is going to BMs...

And his BMs more than likely have other dudes so future out here taking care of their boyfriends too

It must suck being on child support from 5 women knowing you paying for their new n***** room & board as well

Way to go Fewtch. Giving back to the hood like Nipsey

so that's what Future meant by saying he does the same thing in his community, keeping chicks flush with plane tickets and child support

Taking them off the pole and putting them in college

I'm talkin' having an album with more than half of the songs less than 3 mins, I haven't been deep into music that long comparatively so maybe I'm just late on the "trend"

How long is a song technically? Like for the charts

I don't think one person started it, it just happened when the quality went to **** a few years ago. 2012-2013 ish I would guess. Everyone started making gimmick music, short as hell and shooting for a radio single.

The first thing I noticed when I saw Q's album was the length of the album and some of the features. He went somewhere else with this album, it's different. It's not bad but out of his three major releases, this is dead last for me.

Ehhh it was before that, when dudes did away with the 3rd verses of songs. It used to be just people like Carti and such doing that, but now it’s pretty much everybody. Funny thing is, Migos have been the ones consistently still doing songs way past 3:30. Seems like they really don’t care how long a song is, as a lot of their stuff is 4:00 minimum :lol
