80's kids know all about the VHS compilations every major music star put out. MJ started the wave. Janet had the full-length "Rhythm Nation" short, New Edition & Bobby Brown had their sets, and Hammer had his. Most of them were second-hand dubs. My folks weren't shelling out no $30 per tape.
