Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Save for Hov... We’ve never seen anything like Drake in rap. I’m not dude’s biggest fan, but you gotta call it what it is at this point.

It's an ig post. It's the same as getting **** from a website

Dude who made the list is an atrl poster who does those projections for fun. This _ makes a post saying the track is "on pace" to go #1 like he got that **** from an official source. Thats like him taking somebody post from on here and saying the track is on pace to flop

The track has a really good chance of going #1-2 and dude does good projections but cmon

Strap also got a deep history in atlanta with black mobb

i think thug, 21 and nudy used to roll w black mobb too. its crazy how everybody history tied together in atlanta. they really need a movie like 90’s Henchmen/Haitian Jack/Puffy/Pac/E Moneybags/etc. need a movie

It’s impressive but he’s also not viewed in the same light as the other rappers that went on long streaks. He’s viewed as a pop star to a lot of people and even he just said he’s not black enough to people. I’d never compare his run to a 50, Jay or X.

It wasn't as accessible then. Pretty sure a lot of people knew about it, but what was Coinbase?

it was straight forward then but it came off feeling sketchy back then, it didn’t have the official feel it has now but even now it’s really just trust based (trust in the system not individuals)

bitcoin was the only currency then but there were centralized places to get it if I remember right that was a coinbase type move if coinbase wasn’t one of the og joints

I don’t fully remember cause again I wasn’t in the game, just knew a lot about it

“I used to get teased for being black
And now I'm here and I'm not black enough
Cause I'm not acting tough
Or making stories up 'bout where I'm actually from”

“Black excellence, but I guess when it comes to me it’s not the same though, all goodie
That just pushed me to do the things we all couldn’t“

What would be the equivalent of doing something like this with a album like the Power of the Dollar?

What significance does Sha have as well?

POTD idk. I’m surprised he even took the chance back then (2014), keep in mind he was selling direct-to-buyer. And he was selling it for $667 bitcoin (those who are familiar with it would know the dollar equivalent idk) Aside from any royalties he mad have had with producers, he got to pocket all of that. 50 usually looks for unknown new producers that sell their beats cheap, so he may just be buying beats upfront, and not having to break bred with anyone.

Sha Money used to manage G Unit when they first came out, IMO he has a great ear for the type of music 50 should be making. 50 has no type of identity in his music now... Sha kept 50 in a pocket

50 is musically irrelevant

He was a gimmick and he's not a good enough rapper to sustain his career. Pusha is a better rapper, so he can sustain the same thing for 15 years. Same with Ross.

50 has nothing to say. I still don't get him attacking 4:44, when dude is 40 years old and has been a millionaire and famous for 15. Yet he's still talking about being rich, the 90's and what he was like when he was broke, like kids can relate to that.

I've yet to hear the new drake song... hope I never do honestly. Drake, post malone, eminem, macklemore I avoid all them w'

Yeah, I listened and he's not for me. Haven't been a fan since So Far Gone
