Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I never said this

I just feel like it's ruining the energy to where they have to edit out little passive aggressive awkward exchanges and one has to leave

But that was prior to watching today's episode where he brought it back up they both stated how they feel and so far it seems like they're both tryna make the energy seem better

You say this like melody and hits are mutually exclusive

melody wasn't really apart of Wayne's skillset hitmaking wise until Lollipop or maaaaybe Make It Rain

He got all prior hits off of just being a good rap songwriter

It may not have been a major key, but it was a part of his repertoire that he would flex. How to Love comes to mind.

Clout hasn't always been a word? I remember an app/website years ago called Klout that was supposed to track your twitter followers and such

Yup - and really it hasn't changed much from that idea. Clout is basically relative to being poppin' on social media/internet.

How does hit singles translate to having better melodies?

Most hit singles are based mostly around melodies/hooks/catchy bridges..... sometin wayne has excelled at. Just because it wasn't crooned doesn't mean it's not a Melody.

Hell Bling Bling is a melody, it's a repetitive string of words that is catchy to the listener. Uzi is just now hitting a stride.

If the argument is Uzi is a better singer/crooner than wayne cool that's up for debate... but in terms of being better at creating melodies/hooks NAH & it isn't even close

Only reason I'll actually agree is because of his amount of music. But Wayne hasn't thrived so much on his **** being catchy. If anything, that's Uzi's lane

Idk, some of Wayne’s best melodies are when he’s rapping and not actually singing

When we talking about music theory and **** it gets a lot deeper. DMX and Kiss for example arent really singers but had A1 melodies. Think about Kiss verses on “Why” it’s a talky type rap flow but that melody absolutely makes the song.

I will say Uzi pulls off the Pop Punk inspired Rap **** WAY better

Clout has been somewhat present in NY since the early 2000’s (maybe even before), but yea, the resurgence is definitely present, it’s more widespread now

“and I don’t got a problem with clout/you ain’t get shot again yet so what’s ya second album about?” Jadakiss, 2005 etc

Fat Joe/Uzi. This is the era of ****** beefing, then becoming cool, hanging out, and doing a song, just wait lol

This may be true.... but in terms of just straight melody that was a wild take from AK. Wayne Melody may be his strongest attribute, even when he just straight spitting like you said of X & Kiss dude still threw in little melodies throughout. Hustler Musik is a prime example of this.

Nah man Uzi don't have melodies than Wayne. Dude's going overboard once again.

But that’s not even wayne’s mel.....
