THAT is why any artist ultimately didn't go with Dame.

Cam already an independent dude, State Prop winding down, etc. The industry pretty much sided with Jay. It was becoming pretty well known how Dame would act in meetings and ****.

I still do think the look of it publicly when Ye chose Jay caused a big shift in the industry as far as other artists signing to new labels.

Dame was never going to start from scratch with a new artist(s). DameDash Musicgroup ended up being something just for Dame.

i remember in the Kanye interview with MTV back day and they asked was he a traitor / disloyal for signing with Hov over dame and he straight up said “Yes”

It's funny, dudes are debating if dating someone 5 years younger is too young in another thread, meanwhile Hefner used to "date" 50 years younger and built an empire off it and he was admired.

To be fair to Hugh the empire was built long before he was 50 years older than his chicks. Hell the empire had been part of mainstream america by the time his last couple chicks were added to the mansion.

Not victim blaming at all but I'm more than sure some of those girls sought dude out in the end. Some of those women really fell in love with the playboy lifestyle.

As much as Cam caped for Dame he could've at least had some dipset **** coming outta DDMG. I get that the Dips were fairly independent but man Writer, Hell Rell and them dudes were never gonna sell millions anyway.

You gotta remember at what point things were officially happening though.

By the time Dame was on his own **** Cam was claiming a hot summer was coming for Curtis that never came. Diplomats were aimless, dudes were getting locked up, only dropping mixtape **** and not aiming for an album debut. If anything Jim Jones should've been linking up with Dame and he probably could've groomed Jim in to a more polished artist faster but Jim was doing his own thing with Max and we know how that ended up.

I guess for Dame there were too many burnt bridges and not enough connections made with new dope rappers from Harlem or Brooklyn. Also I think he ain't really want to pursue another run like that. Cuz honestly his name could've easily be mentioned up there with Puff, Dre, Baby, JD, Khaled, etc. if he really wanted to prove it wasn't all Jay.

Did Dame produce though? I'm on the JD side of the Verzuz (although I give puff his credit). If Dame didn't touch no keys he shouldn't be brought up with any of the names you mentioned.

It gets tricky once you start letting CEOs in Verzuz. Some of those dude had a real musical background. Others were hustlers who focused their emtrepenurial spirit into music. There is still a big difference.

People downplay JD but he isn't lying when he talks about his accolades Vs. Puff. There is just certain circles where the money doesn't matter and JD is in those circles.
