Robots Evolving

With sexbots in stores and robots getting athletic, it's only a matter of time before they become a significant asset of society.

ROBOT LAWS BY ISSAC ASIMOV

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm

A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws

A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

Laws are always broken

Then to a robot what is the logical conclusion to these laws? Make it so that humans can't harm each other

That's similar to the justification they use to overthrow humans in the movies

So how far are we before these robots can do this with a gun?

Could literally be an army of robots.
No way you can guarantee humans will never be hurt.

we cant even follow our own laws
what makes folks think a robot going to

iRobot is a sci-fi but its getting closer and closer to reality each year.

Those laws had loopholes

The acceleration in which technology evolves is fairly rapid once some hurdles are crossed. The hard part now is creating fluidly moving machines. Next will be improvements in AI

Small-scale EMPs will keep smarter robots/AI in check in the future. Also, you can implement innumerous protocols that'll "kill-switch" a robot. There are undetectable micro/nanochips that will only become traceable when active, in other words, a stealth "kill-switch".
