Bought a tens unit to use on my knee. That thing works great , knee pain almost gone

I've been thinking about trying one. My left knee on my last few marathons and training runs have been stiffing up on me to the point where I have to stop and rub it out 2 or 3 times.

This is the one I have. It work great but I'm pretty sure I could have got a cheaper one that works as good. The only thing I looked for was for it to have 4 pads and 2 channels so I could do 2 different body parts at once. Plus the one I have, the pads don't need to be applied with any gel they stick on, so im able to walk around and do tasks while the unit is on

Not sure if I want to pull the trigger though. I had some knee pain that really hurt me last year, wonder if this would've helped 8o

Has anyone in here tried Newtons? I'm really interested in trying the Gravities...
I have trained in three different models.

I'm sure you already know it emphasizes midfoot/forefoot strike but with you being an already experienced runner I don't foresee any lengthy adjustment period.

Quality of materials and construction on point. Durability is on par with the mainstream brands. Price is a bit high but I'm sure you already know where to get them cheaper.
 
So I bought the new adidas ultra boost st and they are amazing!

So soft and cushy. Way more comfortable than the odyssey to me. It's the ultra boost, but made for stability.

I helped me out a lot . I also use it for other body parts when they are sore and I wake up the next day feeling better. I also used the tens unit plus stretching to help with my plantar.
 
Pace was all over the place! Running in a city with a lot of buildings really disrupted the GPS for mile 5-8. :{

I've been continuously reading positive reviews for the Gravities and Distances. I know that I already have enough running shoes to last me over a decade, but I'm interested in these. [emoji]128517[/emoji] The prices on the older models are VERY affordable compared to their MSRP.

How'd you go about sizing on the three models you've trained in? And if it's not much trouble, can you mention which ones they are?

I'm unsure if I should go +1/2 up or TTS. Their fit guide online suggests that I go +1/2 from Nike and TTS from Hoka.

Gravity III, Motion III and Kismet.

I have wide/high volume feet and usually go 1/2 to full size up for Nike (FK Racer and FK 4.0, J's for example) and Hoka (Clifton 1, Huaka, Challenger ATR).

HOWEVER, for Newtons I had to go TTS and is good for LSDs, tempo runs and racing 5K up to 13.1.

Safe to say, you might want to try it on first or buy online from a site with a good return/exchange policy. Best of luck and safe running.
 
I already have a mid-to-forefoot strike, but I'd like to experience Newton's POP/Action/Reaction Tech. Essentially, it's like ZOOM AIR, as they both propel you forward. However, with Newton's tech, it's EXPOSED on the midfoot's outsole rather than embedded in the shoe.

I'll admit that when I started running I used to overstride and had a severe HEEL STRIKE, so I'd land with my leg in front of me. Since then, I've transitioned into a mid-to-forefoot strike. Nowadays, my form in a single session evolves as the miles progress. When I start my runs out, my form doesn't look great, but I still try to land underneath my core. I guess it takes me a while to warm up. When the last couple of miles approach, I have that textbook form, which almost feels like I'm gliding. I really shave several seconds off my average pace then. :smokin

During the winter months, I do find myself with a bit of a forward lean, because I'm looking down to make sure I have good footing when I strike - ice, tree limbs, etc.  I'm also really letting my pace take a hit as I build up to marathon distance, and it takes a while for the ego to accept it, haha.

That's a necessity, ESP in the winters you guys on the East Coast have! You definitely don't want to risk an injury running recklessly in those conditions. In California, we're spoiled with fair weather almost the entire year. When the pace gets increases so does my anxiety. Sometimes, I just need to do the same and let go. I should be grateful that I'm out there running.

I find myself looking down since run on a trail and am always looking for rocks or branches 
 
I'm somewhere in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. And so far we've had a relatively mild winter in terms of snow and temp.

Outside of a cheap(er) Wildhorse 3 gtx, I've found myself "investing" in Nike (and other brands) cold weather running clothes and gear, mostly discounted ones. Nike's Flash vest and jacket have allowed me to run safely and warm in the cold/dark/sometimes wet early AM or after-work hours.

Good info guys. I find myself struggling to get my form right since my last injury. I had to take 2 weeks off to get my shin to stop hurting from everyday running. So now that my legs are fresh again, I can start over. I have a pace of 7.30 per mile and mostly a mid to forefoot striker (until I get tired). This is when I feel I start to heel strike. My body isn't uniform and I let my hips drop more on one side and my body weight shift more to one side. In return in put a lot more stress on my left side aggravating my shin. So now im trying to do/find some good ankle, leg strengthening excersises to help better my posture. At 222 lbs I don't think my pace is bad at all. But still might be too much weight for my ankles and legs.

Anyway, don't forget to get out and run today. I earn a Chinese New Year badge and knew nothing about it until afterwards...

The only other shoes/techs I want to try are adi's BOOST and Saucony's Everun, which are essentially similar according to solereview.

According to Solereview writeup on the new ISOFIT 2, they do have partially some of the same tech as the adidas boost. They seem to have mix reviews more so on a slightly decline. Other reviews dislike the fact that they watered down such a great tech as the boost. Since the placement is only in the crash pad area, it wouldn't do me no good to try them. One of the cool things I did like was they attempted to paint the boost blue. We'll see how that holds up over time.
 
What do you guys do for stretches before runs? I might need something different since my quads have been feeling tight on runs. I foam roll and do some dynamic stretches.

Lately, I've noticed that when I run in downtown (SF), the GPS has me running 9-10 minute miles at several points on pretty flat ground. [emoji]128529[/emoji] I'm certain that I'm not running at that pace, and it really gets me frustrated. I've been using my vivoactive for a month and a half. I like it, but, sometimes, I feel like my overall pace suffers when the GPS isn't accurate. With that being said, I'll still stick with it, but I definitely have the Fenix 3 HR on the wish list.

My vivoactive has been doing that lately it gets frustating. But at least its better than last month,when it was making me run more to get my distance in
